Has #71 improved his faceoff skills?

Postby nexguy66 on Thu Sep 25, 2008 9:10 am

He's been the leagues worst center in faceoffs every year so far... Has anyone heard if he's worked on this much?

Malkin doesn't try to win faceoffs, he just shoots pucks.

I have no evidence that Malkin has worked on his faceoff capabilities, but during camp, I can distinctly remember him beating Crosby 3 or 4 times in a row in the offensive zone. He was 9-14 last night.

He worked on them a lot at training camp. I saw him working on them on both the first and second day. One of the coaches was really helping him with his form.

Faceoffs are a progression thing. Very few can come into the league and succeed in the circle. Staal was a dominant faceoff man in juniors and he's just starting winning more the last couple months of last season. I doubt Malkin will be a great faceoff man, but he'll be quite as horrible in the future.

"every year". You mean all of 2?

I love it though. It seems like this has been our team for a long time but its only been 2(ish) years.....and we have 5 or 6 years left :D :D :D
