Your brain may be foggy but it's correct here. Orpik & Letang played together for a while last year. From when Eaton went down until Orpik was paired with Gonchar after the trade deadline - so about two months.

And the idea that Letang desparately needs familiarity at this point is kind of silly to me. If MT thought that was true, he wouldn't have have switched the pairings around in the playoffs last year. What is he going to do, just not play Letang for a couple months because the guy he was paired with in the playoffs (Whitney) is going to be out? Therrien needs to make what would be the best top pairing - that would be Orpik & Letang with how things are at the moment.

Shero didn't sign him for $2mil a year for him to sit in the pressbox. IMO, he's only behind Orpik & Letang on the defensive depth chart right now.

Without Sarge and Whits:

Orpik-Letang
Eaton-Scuds
Gill-Gogo
Ex. Sydor

With Sarge and Whits
Sarge-Orpik

sydor and/or goligoski should get the go with orpik, and let letang work with someone he will spend time with this season (eaton or gill)

i liked the letang/gill pairing...small man/big man

eaton is playing every night when healthy. sorry.

and i think scuds will be ahead of sydor all year. i mean, there's a lot of precedent established from last year about who is in higher standing.

Odds are Eaton will get hurt sometime this year. If he plays all 82 games then I'm Elvis Pressly.

I'm glad to see Scuderi is back on everyone's garbage list...since that makes a ton of sense...

I'm with others when they say that there is no way Eaton is in that box. Did you see his sweet way he broke up that sorta two on one during the game wed. He knocked away the puck while on his stomach to block the pass. As long as he doesn't get broken again he will play.

And scuderi played pretty good last year. I have nothing against sydor but between the two i would play scuds.

Scuderi was signed to be a depth defenseman, so I don't see how people listing him at 6, 7 or 8 is any kind of disrespect to him. He and Gill are pretty much the same player. Gill's bigger, Scuderi is a bit more mobile. Both are defensive defensemen with average passing ability at best. I think both can help the team, but having them both dressed is a little redundant and both on the same pairing handcuffs whatever forwards are out there as far as generating offense goes.

I take stupid penalties too. Opponents score 3 goals in 2 minutes to take a one goal lead, then I proceed to fight someone and we come back in the last couple minutes then score in the first minute of ot to win. You need to stop taking bad penalties. <Kittens> you! Thats a great penalty that didn't even put us at a disadvantage.
