Thomas makes it while Biz is cut.

Henry Hank wrote:It's hard to believe, but Bissonnette might have actually made the team. They might not be confident that he'll clear waivers - that's a big plus for him. If he does make the team, I hope we hear the last of people worrying about the team's toughness.

What's surprising is that he came in and stole Ryan Stone's roster spot. He's been a beast in the preseason and he has done as much as anyone else to earn his spot. Good for him. Like you said, his presence along with Godard, should put those (myself included) who were concerned with "toughness" this season at ease.

Its a great story considering all the ups and downs Biz has had in the Pittsburgh organization.

That's my guess. They'll "demote" one player Friday, and he'll continue to travel with the team.

That makes sense, and if that's the case, it will have to be Thomas as the odd man out. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if they cut any other forward, he'd have to clear waivers, and the Pens are not going to risk sending someone down who might get claimed while they are in Sweden. If that player got claimed and there was an injury, then they would be screwed, and would have to play a man short.

Actually, Pesonen is the one that doesn't need to clear waivers. Bissonnette and Thomas do. I think Bissonnette might get claimed based on his preseason showing. Thomas is probably safe since no team was willing to offer him a one-way deal this summer.

Thanks for the correction, Henry. That's what they'll do then: cut Pesonen, but take him on the trip in case they need to call him up because of injury.

Which is why we shouldn't demote Biz

Pesonen is the odd man out, which is unfortunate because all three deserve to stay.

My maybes:
janne pesonen
bill thomas
paul bissonnette
I think Bissonnette makes the team.

Too bad for Sergei Gonchar that he does not get to travel; as others have written, he would have had family there to see him play. He'll just have to fly them all to Pittsburgh in the Spring. :)

Could it be just possible that maybe Janne has decided to go back to his team in Europe and the Penguins are just giving him a ride home.... Just thought it could be possible since the roster is set for 24.
Just a scenerio that came to mind...

No. It has already been noted that he is willing to go to WBS if he has to.

You switch it up. But I agree Biz will make it over Thomas. He's a(n English) muffin, like Sykora.

They'll probably suit Pesonen for the Jokerit game then "send" him down to WB/S before the regular season starts (i.e., sit him in the press box).

Personally, if Pesonen is waiver-exempt, I'd rather see him play first line minutes in the AHL then fourth line minutes in the NHL, to get that adjustment to North American hockey, though I don't know if he'd feel the same (I think it was Bonvie who said he'd rather sit in the press box in Pittsburgh than play 25 minutes a night in Wilkes-Barre).
