saw it on Savran on Sportsbeat
No punches thrown, but Godard's gloves came off and had Letang in a head lock

I was waiting to see who posted about it first. I saw it, too. Looks like emotions are running pretty high already, as is frustration. Notice how the peacekeeper Hal Gill was the first one there?

I guess it could be a good thing so show that there is some intensity in practice
It's also a good thing that Godard never actually hit Letang with a punch

Sweet. Our enforcer is beating on his own team more than he is others.
Wonder what caused all of it. Letang doesn't seem like the antagonistic type.
Team fighting during practice is just bad news, any way you slice it. Makes me think of Ottawa last year. At least Godard hardly plays.

They were battling on the boards for puck possession.
Nothing really happened.

I didn't see it on the news, but it doesn't sound like it was that big a deal. Sometimes tempers get heated in competitive sports. Obviously fights shouldn't happen between teammates, but it didn't sound like it was an all out brawl.

Bob Errey disagrees with you. Last year during a Southpointe practice, Orpik looked like he was trying to kill some of his teammates including Evgeni Malkin when he brought a stick up into his face. When someone complained about it, Bibbs said, "People can learn something from that." The words stuck in my head, but he's right. And this team is playing about as SOFF as I've seen them under Therrien. They NEED a serious attitude adjustment, even if it's a little 'crazy'. After all, the Flyerssum are coming to town!!!!!

I heard he broke Letang's jaw and Letang is out for weeks. This is a serious problem with the chemistry on the team. Trade for army.

Maybe it wasn't Godard's fault. Wasn't there someone who tried to claim that Letang was going to be a locker room cancer? That little jerk head probably called Godard a mean name, totally deserved everything he got, I'm sure.
(I'm joking, btw.)

Don't see it as a problem unless it continues to happen or becomes part of a wider range of problems, such as in the case of Emery. For now, a slap on the back of the head and that's the end of it unless it occurs again.

indeed, we have some tough guys on the roster but the team is playing soft. We went from (arguably) the toughest team in the Eastern Conf to one of the softer teams in the Eastern Conf this offseason.
MT and Shero preach team-toughness but it's not all about fighting majors. Through 3 games we haven't seen many big hits, agitating, or scrappy play. I'm not talking about Kennedy sticking up for a teammate or Gill or Godard fighting. I'm talking about big hits, intensity, mean/aggressive hockey. I've seen none of it this year. So far the Pens seem VERY easy to play against....which is a bad thing.

Thats not what they did last year, they stepped up when they needed to, but they weren't some mean team. It sounds like you want the 90s-early00s Maple leafs or something.
