Postby clue on Wed Oct 15, 2008 1:12 pm

hey guys ....i think i have an answer to replacing gary roberts and or brooks orpik in front of the net. i say lets put Brooks Orpik there. He can skate with anyone, he is huge, and i really think that he could play in front of the net on the Power play. what do you guys think

Ok...I'm willing to get thrown under the bus and play devil's advocate.

To start: How would this be different than Ottawa using Schubert or Chicago using Befeugyn (sp?!) ?

Regardless, and I don't believe this is really a viable option, anyone is better than Staal - ANYONE. He can't score, he has no physical presence in front, no transition game, he brings absolutely nothing to the powerplay.

Should they change it to "PP on the Orpik"?

Staal on PP1 and Orpik on PP2

I'm all for seeing what Orpik can do in front of the net. Staal actually is really good in front of the net because of his quick hands, but I'm not sure he has that screen the goalie ability quite yet. I have confidence that he can put in juicy rebounds though.

I would love to know what Orpik thinks of people penciling him in as a power play net crasher.

Probably the same thing he thought about all the people who were sure that he hated Therrien.

I think Gill should be in front on the PP. I mean look how good he is at deflecting pucks into the net. I think we put him there and tell him to play like he was on the other teams defense and we will score countless deflection goals this season on the PP. Just my .02
