Agree on everything - especially the striped buffoon call on Super Scuds.

I thought Satan was ok last night. Not great, of course, but he didn't suck either.

He didn't suck?! One shift he had three unchallenged shots on net, and completely missed the net EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Hm, well, maybe it's because I had modest expectations to begin with.

Thanks Mike. I pretty much agree. Spot on with the MAF grade. I'm not quite ready to call Staal a tradeable schlub. And I can't believe you (of ALL people! :) ) only gave the PP a D!

They really need to trade this schlub now, before other GMs realize he just doesn’t have any offensive talent.

Yes, please.

What really gets me is that if Staal's name was Jordan Smith, he wouldn't have even gone in the 1rd round.

I don't know about that. The guy has the talent. He did score 29 as a rookie. That wasn't a fluke.

zigman or sigmund :) ~ one ziggy was enough.

For now Evgeni and Sidney should get 2 or more grades~ they are trying to play for everybody on their lines.

I was hoping it wasn't, but last year + never even scoring that many in juniors.... I'm REALLY hoping I'm wrong.

But he still has potential. And I don't think we can afford him at his asking price for next year.

So can we at least get something out of a trade, rather than nothing when he signs with Carolina as a free agent?

What about six goals in 20 playoff games last year? That's a fairly large stretch of games, tighter games, in which he scored at a ~25 goal pace. The guy can score. He's beyond young. I have no doubt that cries for trading him now would turn into "how could they trade a 20 year old?" when he turns into a beastly player. Four games is four games in which Crosby has zero goals, Malkin has one goal, Satan has one goal, etc. Staal missed an open net on a play in which he attempted to kick the puck to his stick and ran out of room. That's something a fully developed player might pull off.... a still raw 20 year old might not always do it.
