The second one, about Cojac. We're basically just having fun wondering "what if"

I was hoping Gm Shero could get this done before November 11 . 8-)

sid is the best forward we have at battling in corners and always plays hard in his own end even when put with a grinder like dupuis. there's no reason we need to put him with someone in the dupuis/recchi/malone mold.

Agree with above sentiment regarding Kovalchuk. Crosby needs someone like Hossa, a player who can play along the boards and be responsible defensively. Kovalchuk is another one-trick pony, although he is VERY VERY good at that one trick. He is not what this team needs, though. If the Pens acquire him, they still are lacking grit, plus they lose another good penalty killer in Staal with nobody to replace him. It just doesn't make sense.

Well, Kovalchuk has one of the best one timers in the league, in my opinion. At least, he scores about two goals with it every time he plays the Pens. And to be fair, Kovalchuk is a big man and he has laid out quite a few people in the corners.

Unfortunately, he's one of those "plays-if-he-wants-to" players. I'd be cautious if there is any truth to this (highly unlikely).
EDIT: Plus, he's a righty. So dangerous.

Along the lines of Cojac's fantasy trade, when they say "major" deal, that can only involve the one "major" player that the Thrashers have. I also agree about the loss of grit, and especially a PKer, but perhaps that's why they'd package in somebody (dare I say it) like Armstrong. Regardless, after last night's debacle I'd believe that the Thrashers are looking to shake things up. We'll see what happens though, I'm pretty sure the Pens can pick it up before RS hits the panic button, or the playoff push button. I seem to remember mentioning a certain Thrasher (#18) last year around this time and saying how we were going to trade for him, then it not actually happening until March.

Yeah that would be almost as absurd as going after Gaborik. Just about 1 tier down on the insanity scale.

It's just funny cause some want Gaborik and others says he's too injury prone. Now Kovalchuk gets brought up and some are still finding things to complain about that. Well who's left out there? To keep on bringing up Hossa is ridiculous he's gone never to return and not only that I think some are over estimating what he brought to this team.

I remember some complaining that he wasn't doing much at times.

Kovalchuk is a complete offensive player. He can do work anywhere in the zone. I'm more than happy with him either in the neutral zone or offensive zone, its just his own end that he gets questionable.

Gaborik would be an ideal line-mate, sans the injuries. With all the injuries, he's not worth it.

If you could get Kovalchuk for say Staal and Goligoski the trade should be done yesterday. More pieces would have to be added for cap reasons, but that would be the parameters of the deal...

Kovalchuk is signed for this year and next...If they make the deal, I'm sure Shero, Botterill would have the cap figures understood to make it work long term...

Feaster said the Pens and Thrashers began talks on a major Trade, he didn't name players. I just threw some name out there based on needs and salaries.
