Talbot Not a Hossa Fan

Postby EagleMorph on Mon Nov 10, 2008 1:51 am

Leave it to Max to not offer a vanilla answer.

And, all these months later, Hossa's decision still stings him. A lot.

"Oh, yeah," Talbot said. "There's [anger]. You can't forget about something like that because everybody in the organization and [the players], we expected him to come back. We thought he was comfortable here, and he was really good with [Sidney Crosby as his center], and stuff.

I doubt he's the only one on the team that feels that way. Maybe the only one willing to admit it.

I think it would be hilarious if Malkin came out and said something really abrasive about the whole situation, then went on to not speak to the media for the rest of the season.

That's right Max!!!

They thought he was their teammate, but he was nothing more than an opportunist.

After I learned that Hossa approached Detroit, himself, I'd never want him back on this team. He may be a good hockey player, but he's a worthless teammate. He doesn't deserve a Cup.

That would imply that he's been hanging out with Tom Barrasso.

It would certainly explain his backup's (Staal) lack of confidence. Just as J-S Aubin.

As if Max wasn't already one of the fan favorites....

I really appreciate his frankness and honesty. What a superstar. A lot of players have been awfully "nice" about the Hossa thing to the press, but I've been waiting to find out how they REALLY feel at game time.

Be as diplomatic as you want in interviews if that's how you feel about it -- I just hope they stand up and fight and aren't so "respectful" and "chummy" when they get out there on the ice.

I luv it, to echo the others that is why Max is a fan favorite.

Right or wrong, we were all stung by Hossa leaving and going to the Wings after we were two games away from winning the Cup.

I think its great for Max to tell the truth about the situation. Thanks Max!!

Orpik's probably not mad that Hossa left. If the Pens kept Hossa, then Brooksie would be a Blue Jacket right now = )

I would not be surprised if Max did this on purpose. This team needs a little fire, something to take the foucs away from the current drivel that keeps being discussed. The truth is that this is an old story. Max chose now to speak about it? Max is media savvy...

A bow to the heart~ I think Talbot posted somewhere in the hossa to DET novel.
8-)
Full credit to the rational and straight-thinking pens; If I had a teammate who, after 4 mons, said this other team gives ME the better chance at winning; my pulse might go up a bit. The other team being the one that the pens had to watch raise the stanley cup on home ice.
Tomorrow isn't the time to react to what happen at the end of June, it is just another game.

Hossa living large in Detroit with his new friends:
http://www.freep.com/article/20081109/S ... 90394/1053
He is a prankster, this Marian Hossa, a big kid. He'll get you on an elevator, distract you from getting off on your floor, then laugh at you when you figure it out.
But instead of getting angry, you find yourself laughing with him, because well, he's Marian Hossa.
He has played for the Red Wings for a month now, and in that time has looked like the most brilliant signing of the summer. He's on pace for some 40 goals, 60-odd assists and more than 100 points, and he's doing all that while playing so hard in his own end he often leaves his teammates breathless.

"We think him coming here is a reflection on how good a team we have here," goalie Chris Osgood said. "That does come into making decisions with guys around the league. Guys know what teams are like based on how they are in the dressing room, and ours has always been good and I think that's known around the league.
"We play with a team concept more than anybody else, and that's what we think wins us games, and he fits into that perfectly. He's not an ego type of player. He gets his points, but he doesn't talk about them. He enjoys backchecking and doing little things to help us win just as much as scoring, and that's why he fits in so well."

Osgood is the one the pens couldn't get to...they just couldn't break him for a game. I'd like to see him broken, for many goals , tomorrow. :)

In addition there would be zero chance of resigning Staal, whether your someone on here that supports Staal or not. He would have been gone for sure.

Probably more likely that a reporter just asked him about it.

Not if Hossa approached the Pens with the one year deal that he requested from the Red Wings. That's why it stings. He went to them and asked for a below market, short-term deal that the Pens definitely could have fit into their plans.

I love that Max said this stuff. There HAS to be others who feel the same way but wont admit it publicly. Thank you Max for having the courage to say it out loud. :)

Am I the only one fed up with all the articles about how great and funny Hossa is and how well he fits into the Detroit team? I want to vomit...
