I figured it might be a joke, but with all of the "trade Staal" idiots making threads all the time, I decided to voice my opinion.

I'd say its a joke thread. Or at least a very sarcastic thread.

I was actually just trying to make a point after this post

usahockeyteam1980 wrote:Enough with the "trade Staal" talk. This is just getting ridiculous. He's done a good job, and he's only 20. Not every 20 year old is going to play like Crosby or Malkin. This was definitely a confidence-boosting game, and I think he'll do well from now on, and hopefully be rewarded with a contract here in Pittsburgh

Staal: 5 goals, 4 assists, 9 points, +4
Kessel: 7 goals, 2 assists, 9 points, +2
Toews: 1 goal, 8 assists, 9 points, +1
Backstrom: 0 goals, 6 assists, 6 points, +3

Funny what one game can do. LOL

This is definitely a joke thread but unfortunately, most of them haven't been. I can't blame you for not being sure. :)

At least 18. The better question is, which is larger, the number of threads that will be created, or the number of shots Staal will drink.

Sweet, thats the second time this week someone has known that a post was mine before reading it. I probably shouldn't be proud of the other one, but I am.

When i'm online, which recently has been all evening pretty much every evening the past week or so, I basically go to the list of forums and refresh to see if there are any new posts. Kinda sad, but i've been watching my way through The Unit, catching up to the current season, so I've been at my computer. Usually there a re a few threads that have something worth discussing.

Haha, I actually didn't realize I had 9000 till late last week. And i'm not posting nearly as much as I was about a month ago.

EDIT: Actually I noticed it when I was on my aunt's computer before the game on Saturday. The smaller screen caused me to pay more attention to things and I was like "wow, i'm heading for quintuple digits".

demangone wrote:Does Staal have a brother on the Red Wings or did one of his relatives die?? What happened tonight? Is he 18 again?

:D :D :D That is hilarious! I was going to post the same thing. Why does it take something to motivate him. I am assuming his motivation last night was because the Wings beat us in the Cup last year. But in any other huge game he has had, it has been personal (I know his other hat trick was against Toronto). Oh well! Awesome motor in the 3rd!!!

It makes me think, maybe he just needs the weight of the team on his back. That's what it took for Malkin to find his identity. Crosby goes down, Malkin finds his confidence. We have seen flashes of what Staal can do if he is confident, but he never has to perform under that pressure role.

I am not hoping that Crosby and Malkin go down, but maybe the only way Staal ever blooms is when he gets to carry the weight of a team. I think flashes like last night are the reason teams will always see value in Jordache, and that is why we will be able to acquire something big for him at the end of the season.

Sign Staal now before he is on pace for more the 30, which means we might have to pay him 5 Mill per year.

There's an automatic flat rate of $3 million cause his last name is Staal.

If Staal puts up 30 and we sign him for 3 Mill then that is a steal. Especially with all the defensive PK work he does. I love Staal :)

Staal didn't score his fifth goal until January 10 last year.
