Faceoffs won were huge, but not huger (???) than the jam he created in front and his playmaking ability.

When Zigomanis was first on the power play during the game I wasn't sure why. I thought they wanted a right hand shot possibly. But his faceoff ability is so key to their success in the offensive zone...Huge W...

Also loved how the VS studio honks gave some love to MT for the decision to put FedEx with Neo in OT.

You are smarter than Ray Shero. Nice.

Bowser, I've said the same thing as well. This team was close to last, if not last in faceoffs for too many years...about time we change the tide...

Ziggy

Postby chaos5190 on Wed Nov 12, 2008 11:31 am

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned at all, but last night I was listening to the game on my way home from class, and Babcock called his timeout. Mike Lange Asked Bourque if he thought MT would bring Ziggy out to take the faceoff. Borque said yes, Lange said no. What a clutch call by MT to call upon his best faceoff man, and what a clutch win from Ziggy to eventually set up the game tying goal from Staal. In years past, I think we have lacked a player like Zigomanis, so it's nice to have someone to rely on to win a big faceoff during any situation in a game!

Overall what a great comeback last night! :D

Too win the faceoff. It doesnt matter if you have 3 JV-Highschool players out there with Crosby + Malkin.

Cups are awarded on the ice, but IMO they are won in the front office. Especially in the salary cap era, teams need to be carefully architected. Gone are the days of winning the cup with deep pockets. Getting role players who are a good cap-value is just as important as securing stars. Time will tell if Zigomanis turns out to be an important piece to this team, but right now all signs are pointing to yes and it looks like a genius pickup for RS.

So we now have 3 post-game Ziggy threads, and about 9 Staal ones

My bad on the typo. That what I get for trying to type in a tiny window at the office so it still looks like I am working.

I will not refer to the Great One at all for 6 weeks.
