Anyone think we shouldn't be shipping out a D man right now?

With the way injuries have gone, the Pens may never be in a position to move Sydor.

Anaheim already used their cap space to call up Bobby Ryan anyway. They don't have any cap space to add any player right now.

My fantasy team thanks the Ducks for calling up Ryan

There's a number of good reasons that Sydor won't get moved to Anaheim...we just aren't a match for a trade like that...

They promoted Bobby Ryan so no more cap space.

Further, players on IR ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS count against the Upper Limit...

Why does it bother people so much that Sydor still exists? He's just sitting in the press box, after all. It's not like he is terrorizing your grandparents for kicks.

He's not going to bring any return whatsoever, and he's gone after this year. There's no reason not to keep him around as insurance, at least until Whitney and Gonchar return.

Sydor has actually played pretty well this season anyway. Better than the famous Mark Eaton anyway.

I agree here. Sydor is good insurance until Whitney and Gonchar are back. Any return we could get for him (late round draft pick???) is worth giving up in exchange for this insurance policy.

1. The Bona Fide Long Term Injury/Illness Exception - A team with a player on longterm IR (10 games/24 days min) may exceed the cap by up to the injured players salary for replacements, but once the injured player returns the team must get back below the cap again before activating the player.

Mhm, I gotcha, but no where does that say the injured player does not count against the Upper Limit...it says a club may exceed the Upper Limit by the pro-rated portion of the cap hit of the injured player, which is slightly different than the player(s) not counting against the Upper Limit...

I don't mean to nitpick, but the salary cap and the CBA is kind of my thing...

And this thread is irrevelant now anyhow... 8-)
