Sydor traded to Dallas for Boucher according to RDS

Just got that link through IRC, I don't speak French but it seems we got Phillippe Boucher for Sydor... I guess this means Eaton sits now?

Awesome.

I love Boucher. How weird though that just a few hours ago, FSN was interviewing, and now boom he's gone.

The Pens might have the most skilled defense core in the NHL once Gonchar and Whitney return.

3 assists in 16 games is less than stellar, but the man has serious talent. He was an All Star 2 years back, if my memory serves me.

Oh, also of note...

The two players have identical salaries of 2.5 million a year, and both deals expire on July 1st, 2009.

And he's a right-handed shot. This board should implode from happiness.

Weird trade. Boucher's a UFA after the season too. He's right-handed and offensively talented. Sydor's third stint in Dallas. Sydor must have really been unhappy not playing. Seems like a pretty lateral move. Another righty is nice to have, though.

He's 35 years old, lots of talent, seemed to pick it up in Dallas. Scored 16 goals 3 years ago and 19 goals 2 years ago. Turns 36 in March.

Makes me wonder how bad the injury to Sarge is or they are going to move someone else down the road. They'll have 9 NHL d-men when Whit/Sarge are back.

This is a great deal in my opinion. Our D just got even better. This is some serious depth on defense for sure.

Sydor wanted out. Eaton isn't playing well. Eaton to the press box. Boucher to a top-six role until Whitney returns.

Definite insurance policy incase Whit/Sarge aren't 100%.

Dallas hasn't been that great this year. Shouldn't be any fault of Boucher's. Turco has been atrocious.

When I saw Dallas, I was hoping Morrow :)

I think Eaton is the odd man out. He's played like crap for a big stretch.

This is a highway robbery trade on Shero's part. Boucher is a machine back there.

Shero's on fire. Zigomanis for a pick. Boucher for Sydor. He even got a 5th round pick from Tampa for Michael Sersen, who never played an NHL game. Coming soon, Eaton for Kolvachoo.

I see your Eaton for Kovalchoo, and raise you Eaton for Kovalchoo and a conditional pick.

He was hurt a good bit last season, but he's also two years removed from an All-Star season. This move has major upside with basically no risk.

Wow, just wow. I'm stunned. If this is legit then Shero should be arrested for robbery. Heck, Jesse James used a gun when he robbed people.

It's not just him. I've watched several Dallas games on Center Ice. That team has stunk it up. Turco has been horrible. Zubov and Robidas don't look like they have any drive. Avery sucks. Morrow has been just ok. Brunnstrum has been hot/cold. Richards has looked ok. Ribero has played decent. Dallas has no chemistry going right now.

Modano looks like he could kill Avery at any given moment.

Boucher is averaging over 21 minutes per game for Dallas.

And Ott.

Their first two lines are playing together but there's definitely a lot of friction on that team. Turco's save percentage is something like .875 or so.

if we're talking about how much a genius shero is...he's gonna pry one of the big three out of ottawa for eaton and a bag of pucks. word on the street was ottawa was looking to deal if they lost to the islanders and they did.

If that is in fact the case, what do you think about Heatly on Sid's wing? I don't like the guy and he looks like Alfalfa with the way he parts his hair, but he would make more sense financially than guys like Kovalchuck and Gaborik.
