I wouldn't mind trying the lines that were out there today in the 3rd.

Malkin-Sid-Sykie
Cooke-Staal-Kennedy
Fedotenko/Dupuis-Zigomanis-Satan

....that of course depends on how hurt Talbot is.

Quit slacking, we should be undefeated

Zigomanis's faceoff goal is the reason we are not 10-0-0 :)

If Talbot is hurt we have Fedotenko-Minard-Satan as a scoring line that might not be that bad. At worst they would be even and Staal's line would get more ice time which would be good.

I'd rather see them spit Malkin and Crosby up again. Its nice to be able to fall back on that, but its better if you can wear the other team down with 3 legitimate scoring threats(crosby, malkin, staal lines).

Yes...if I had to make an immediate decision, I would lean on what you just said. You can always go back to playing 9 forwards like Therrien did tonight. But I would much rather have 4 balanced lines.

Its sad that this is cliche after he has only been here for 2 and a half years, but I don't care if he can't speak a word of English if he plays like this.

I've been saying it for a while. The pens already have the winger they need for Sid, in Malkin...What the team needs is a #2 center...

I would think that Shero will place a call into Garth Snow and talk to him about Guerin and Weight. I could easily see the Islanders moving both of them in package deal to a contender...

Crosby/Malkin/Sykora
Weight/Guerin/Satan
Staal/Cooke/Kennedy

Just throwing it out there...

This is a long season. So if we just keep winning playing this way isn't it ok just assuming that they are saving energy for later in the season to be able to play 60 minutes plus in the strech and the playoffs? Could this be a lesson that the team learned from last year to make it better this season?

Thoughts?

playoffs it was more - get the lead, play trap

sooooooo.... I don't know.

Maybe they just like playing with their food.

I agree with you but the regular season is different from the playoffs. It seems to me so far this year we are able to play the shut down style once we get a lead in the third period that needs to be done in the playoffs every game but I have not been able to watch every game.

Can playing 20 minutes of playoff hockey each night when you win translate to 60 minutes plus that is needed in the playoffs?

Thoughts.

Crosby and Malkin were able to take this game over but teams that actually have talent aren't just going to cower in the corner and let the other team do their thing. It's amazing how much worse the Isles look when the other team is matching their work ethic or surpassing it. They have so little talent.

Kennedy deserves some props tonight too. That whole line was good without getting anything out of it but he was the only guy on the team that I thought had it going the entire time. He always brings it.

As a side story....Devils just blew a 2 goal lead to the Panthers and it is now 2-2 going into OT.

Yep, this was one of those many games where he is the only one that played 60 minutes. There has only been one game that wasn't like that really. I can't remember which game it was, but it was like a week ago, he just looked slow. Thats way more than you can say for anyone else on the team though. Kennedy is just raw energy, no matter who he's playing with or what situation it is.
