The Flyers are a very good team, but weren't playing good hockey under Hitchcock this season. Something was wrong. Flyers are better than the Penguins, and will be until the young players on the Pens mature.
I look for the Flyers to make up for the first game they met this year. Flyers 6, Penguins 2
you better slow down in posting truthful threads like that LOL.....I agree fully...
I laugh at the person that says 7-2 Pens...you should figure out the difference in what you WANT the score to be, and what you actually THINK the score will be.
4-2 Flyers
(didn't the Flyers just beat Atlanta? And Atlanta is no slouch team)

Last time Flyers and Pens met I said 4-1 Pens, Fleury first star, and that was pretty close...
However, I need a conditional pick here...
If Niittymaki plays: Penguins 3-2
If Esche plays: Penguins 6-2
Colby Armstrong first star

Flyers needed an emotional lift of the new coach and some callups to beat a very good team, but one who was playing their backup goalie.
I don't believe that they are a good enough team to compete with teams like the Thrashers and I can't see their defense containing Malkin and Crosby all game.
Closer than last time, but...
5-3 Penguins

You proved that when you bashed people for saying Malkin could hit 100 pts.

I say pens 5-4
the flyers have even less defense than the pens
crosby/malkin will give them headaches, and they sure as hell better stay out of the box.

The Pens out-hustle the Flyers and their speed is too much for Philthy to handle. Pens 5, Philthy 2.
Oh yeah, Dominic Moore gets his 1st goal as a Pen.

I hope Malkin does get over 100 points. You seem to forget 80 points would make for a great rookie campaign.
If Malkin stays on Sid's line, then 100 is possible. I don't think it's possible if he has to center the 2nd line - not with the current wingers the Pens employ.
I'm just joshing you. I tend to agree with your asessment of realism on this or any other hockey board. Sometimes I don't even think people watch the games. They just read this board and then form their own opinion based on what others say.
That being said, noting Sid's history with the Flyers, I say the kid comes out blazing and has a multi-point night in a 4-2 Penguins win. A lot less close than the score indicates.

The Flyers should play well under a new coach, at least for a month or so. Tonight I predict 4-1 Flyers.

regardless of the new coach, Philly's D is still slow.
5-3 Pens with an empty-netter at the end.

Why are you asking him? He was waay off on Crosby's numbers...

he couldn't even see this would be his first hat trick
oops... now 8-2. See, way off.
We need more "realists" like faithinbalsillie and shinoix to let us know the truth about how it's really going to turn out.

Not that I expect this every game, living in constant negativity must suck.

With the way the Pens have been playing the last few years the "negative chic" has kind of blended right in. Once they start to win a few games and are obviously starting to turn the corner, it sticks out like a sore thumb.
