I got about half way through it and then it became kind of a reach. It kind of outlines some major achievers in history and the things in their background that set them up for success. Bill gates and the sun microsystems guy (i think that was the company name) were great stories, so was the one about the beatles. But i lost interest in the story about eastern european clothesmakers or taillors, something boring and uninteresting. The Garbageman wrote:Nope. I just read the wiki and it looks good. It may be up next.Did you read that outliers book? The introduction explains why the structure of youth hockey creates a bias against kids born later in the year. It talks about youth hockey and the coaching/training some kids receive and how being born early in the year puts you against younger kids and you look better, hence get the special attention....pretty cool and substantial.

I'm about 80% finished with Duma Key. Before that I read the first 3 Dark Tower books. I'll probably go back to them after Duma, just needed a break from Roland and the gang.

I like the book a lot especially since he references all of his sources from the most far left media he can find in most cases.Shyster wrote:If ya wanna go, I'll be you in the LGP Politcal Discussion Thread.llipgh2 wrote:So Glenn wrote a book about arguing with himself?Shyster wrote:Currently splitting time between Arguing With Idiots by Glenn Beck![]()

I find arguing politics as pointless as arguing who is better - Sid or Geno? One side never sways the other.Shyster wrote:If ya wanna go, I'll see you in the LGP Politcal Discussion Thread.llipgh2 wrote:So Glenn wrote a book about arguing with himself?Shyster wrote:Currently splitting time between Arguing With Idiots by Glenn Beck![]()

Re: Current book being read/just finished
I actually read the first 3 books around 15 years ago. So much time passed between The Waste Lands and the 4th book that I never got back into it. Then, when I decided I wanted to bite the bullet and read the new books, I realized I needed to read the first 3 again, lol.PensFanInDC wrote:How on earth could you finish The Waste Lands and NOT want to know what happens on that darn train!?!?!?!Hockeynut! wrote:I'm about 80% finished with Duma Key. I figured I'd read Duma Key in between 3 and 4 to build the suspense. :lol

Anyways...
I've added two new books to my list to read.
- It can't happen here by Sinclair Lewis
I was reading about the TV show 'V' and found out this is the novel that the idea was originally based on, but instead of politicians, its aliens. It sounds extremely interesting and controversial. In other words, my type of book.
