The door closed, and Andre Dawson looked directly into Hanley Ramirez's eyes.

"I'm not going to say a lot, because if you say the wrong the thing to me, then you might wind up on the floor on your rear end," Dawson said with Tony Perez standing by his side in a coach's office at Sun Life Stadium.
Awesome...I love seeing two legends put a little snot-nosed **** head in his place.
lulz. I doubt it "put him in his place". If he doesn't face injuries, his career is going to dwarf both of theirs. He's probably a jerk, but if these problems the last few days aren't blown out of proportion, then he knows he's about to have a drastically better career than either of those two and he probably didn't see much significance in those two yelling at him.
Andre Dawson has old man strength and should be feared thusly.

So...if the rays inquired about the availability of doumit, and NH asked for Beckham...would the ray's gm hang up?
Doumit for Hellickson? :pop:
Seeing pitching prospects like Hellickson makes me mad enough. The Rays have an inexhaustible supply, though.

Yes, I realize he's not going to be traded ever.

I imagine there are a lot of people in here familiar with advanced stats, but I saw this and thought it'd be good for anyone unfamiliar with UZR. It delves pretty deep into how they come up with the number, which is even a little more than I'm interested in -- I was fine just knowing what constitutes a good or bad UZR -- but it's definitely worth a look.

Red Sox are on a tear lately, piling up wins against the Rays, Phils, and Twins. Too much pitching for them to be counted out.

Ubaldo Jimenez is now 9-1 with a 0.88 ERA and a 0.93 whip. Amazing.

Kendry Morales breaks his leg while celebrating a walk off HR. I'm really happy he's on my fantasy team.

That game was full of suck for me. I just traded for Hunter this week, and he got hit in the wrist.

Seriously. I keep waiting for Kane to walk out and nail him with Linda Cohn.

i was torn between taking him or hanson. i'm a little annoyed with my decision atm. every year there are 10 or so guys that end up performing excellently that i either was heavily watching and they got picked off waivers before i was convinced to, or that i thought would drop in the draft more than they did. i always end up getting a sick feeling when i see these guys succeed.

in particular this year:

cano (actually every year. i had him his first year and his bad year)
mcgehee (got convinced very late that he'd never perform like last year)
prado (stupid yahoo had him as a backup pre-draft depth charts. stupid me i guess)
gardner (still can't figure out why i didn't grab him off waivers)
marcum
price
fister (though he'll regress and isn't producing ks)
lewis (will prob regress)
richard
pavano

so i'm rooting for all these guys to fail. and soon to add stubbs to the list. he's still out there but i can't decide who to drop esp. considering i need to drop two guys to get anderson off the DL. pfft. fantasy baseball is so stressful. like today here i am rooting for doubles and my morons keep socking dingers.

Yeah I was watching McGehee like crazy. I knew Prado would be a +.300 hitter, but I didn't htink he'd be this good. Still...I hate that I missed him...even though I got McGehee :pop:. McGehee's value will drop a lot next year though when he loses 2B eligibility.

I was able to get Prado and Marcum on most of my teams. I also got Berkman and Nolasco on most of my teams, so that's not working out well.

Yes, I wanted to stab you when you took Prado in the fantrax league...the pick before I was about to take him.
