Is there a trade freeze during the olympics?

Not only a trade freeze - a roster freeze is in effect for the NHL.

It'll be interesting this year with the cap in place to see what kind of trades go down. It won't be the same salary dumps like years past, but I bet you still see some lopsided trades from contenders to teams that will wait next year.

You'll see some salary dumps. Look at the Penguins, they've managed to be saved by Palffy and Lemieux but wouldn't mind cutting LeClair, Odelein, and Roy off the books.

I wonder with TB floundering if they wouldn't take Roy back since he was helfpul as far as morale goes in the Cup finals.

Adding a player who'll be a UFA this summer should not be a problem for a contender and their cap. Therefore I suspect the Pens could have a difficult time moving Recchi and LeClair. I hope I'm wrong.
