Pitt versus Bradley - Gateway to Sweet Sixteen
I am shocked on how this game is going so far but lower teams always make it look easy against Pitt. The difference this year is usually Pitt recovers and wins these types of games. Being down 1 at the half is nothing short of a miracle so I give the momentum shift to Pitt at the start of the second.
Go Pitt!!!!!
Go Pitt!!!!!
Pitt didn't recover from Syracuse. They are remarkably inconsistent. I don't mean to say they don't play hard, but really, there are two different Pitt teams this year. Get down early, or dominate the game. It seems. Ok maybe not, I know nothing about Basketball. But I did play in the Faculrt/8th grade game and got a 3 pointer. All I know is that 3 of our starters have at least 2 fouls and we are losing to Bradley.
Thank you captain obvious.

Lets hope their depth is the difference in this game. I wasn't watching real close but are the refs calling a different game today? Foul trouble will be costly but I predict that Ramon will save the day.Peter wrote:Pitt didn't recover from Syracuse. They are remarkably inconsistent. What is with our D? Got to shore it up quick!

I don't know if it is just me, but every time I see Pitt in a big game, Krauser is terrible. He seems to be without any fundamentals and makes bad decision after bad decision.
I don't watch every Pitt game, and I know that he is supposed to be their best player, but I never see it when I watch them.

Gray is their best player. Krauser is there most experienced guard. As bad as Krauser has been, Gray has been much, much worse. The Snapshot wrote:I don't know if it is just me, but every time I see Pitt in a big game, Krauser is terrible. I've only seen Gray play a few times, but he is not very athletic, and Bradley's Sphomore Center is eating him alive.pfim wrote:Gray is their best player. Krauser is there most experienced guard. He can't jump for sh*t. He's a 7 footer that has to really gather himself to dunk. He rimmed one out earlier when he was bothered by a light hand on the ball. No power to his game, at least today. A soft, slow footed, uncoordinated, no jumpin' center......is that really their best player?

It's not about athleticism, it's about position, and he has been just giving the smaller man position all game long. Krauser and Fields have outrebounded him, just because he's having a bad game doesn't mean he isn't there best player. The Snapshot wrote:I've only seen Gray play a few times, but he is not very athletic, and Bradley's Sphomore Center is eating him alive.pfim wrote:Gray is their best player. That was an odd call, it still would have been Bradley's ball on the jump ball and actually Bradley would have been better keeping the timeout. Strange.pfim wrote:Apparently you can call time out when you don't have the ball now.
Krauser may have just thrown the game away literally with that pass right to the player from Bradley.

I think it was over before he did that.Goalie wrote:That was an odd call, it still would have been Bradley's ball on the jump ball and actually Bradley would have been better keeping the timeout. Strange.pfim wrote:Apparently you can call time out when you don't have the ball now.

As for the timeout, there's a good example why the coach shouldn't be allowed to call timeout. How in the world could that back official tell when Bradley had the ball and when it was tied up? I know they would have gotten the ball anyway, just a pet peeve.

Amen to that!Peter wrote:Pitt is aawesome, Pitt is great!
Wait, what's this? They're down by EIGHT?
Well don't worry, there's time to go
Tick tick tick, where did it go?
Catch up catch up is the game
Against Bradley we should be ashamed.
But there's always next year!
When Krauser won't even be here.
I like Karl and he is a clutch player. They just need Fields and Ramon to pick up the slack next year.
Bradley is pretty good. They are even the more hot team IMO. Inconsistency is the story of Pitt's life. Any sport!
I think the officials also called the game "pro-Bradley" and Pitt couldn't recover in time. When you get in foul trouble within a few minutes of the start of the game, it will be a long day indeed.
Now the Press wont have to make excuses of why they don't respect Pitt. They give them reasons without even trying.
Better luck next year!

For what it's worth, Pitt overperformed this year. That's what I will keep telling myself. But Bradley??snagg66 wrote:Embarrassment...hands down a terrible performance...let a 13 ppg guy score 28..the big least is way overrated
Goes to show you that no matter the seating or standings, you have to play at the top of your game 24/7 or else you lose. It's that simple.
Pitt will not be the last upset. I can assure you there will be worse coming.

The NCAA committee chair should get to interview Nantz and Packer right now and ask them how they feel about the MVC now. I think we also learned the Big East probably got the right amount of teams in.
For all the debate about Pitt's seed they only had to play a 12 and 13 seed to reach the Sweet 16.
It would have been an interesting matchup if they would have ended up playing UCLA and Ben Howland in the regional final but they will have to settle for watching Gonzaga play them next.

This should not surprise anyone.
Bradley is actually a good team, and the MVC is a great basketball conference.
Dixon coached so stupid today. The first 5 mins when they were turning the ball over, it took him long to call a T.O.
He also let CK and Gray play wrecklessly. Gray is horrible in my eyes, he is way too soft, misses shots underneath. He got more exposure, but Douby from Rutgers was the most improved player.
This team is better without CK selfish ways. That bronx sign should of been eliminated from Day 1. Dixon should of told im to cut the crap. Amazing that this guy is a 24 year old senior the way he act on the court with the elbows he threw the last 2 games.
He threw a bronx sign when they were losing by 8 with under 2 mins left. Should of never happened.

You betcha. They seem to always play just well enough to win. That'll normally get you beat in the NCAA championships, but they've come to play. Much as I hate to, I gotta give em credit.Goalie wrote:I think some people owe Gonzaga an apology too.ExPatriatePen wrote:http://www.letsgopens.com/scripts/phpBB ... php?t=1317Goalie wrote:The NCAA committee chair should get to interview Nantz and Packer right now and ask them how they feel about the MVC now.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Pitt now that Krauser has to move on. He has been part of a great regular season run for the Panthers, but on the whole an underachieving post season experience, at least when placed in the context of seeds that eliminated them.
I think the Howland/Dixon style of not opening up their offense hurts them every NCAA tourney. Every year it seems they are scoring in the 50s/60s by the time the tourney rolls around. When is the last time a team won the NCAA title without scoring at least in the 70s? Restrictive offensive systems also are not conducive to attracting blue chip talent.
I was sickened last night watching UCLA try to beat Bama with a score in the 50s. Howland has a young team, but will have no trouble attracting blue chip talent to UCLA. He still is trying to win as if he has the scrappy bunch of limited offensive players he inherited at Pitt.

PITT will never make a serious run for the NCAA title if Jamie Dixon refuses to open the game up on offense, which means recruiting offensive players, not just 6 ft hacks from New York.
The game was lost at the start of the 2nd half, when PITT jumped out to a 33-30 lead, a turnover is rushed up the court by Krauser and he selfishly shoots a three pointer.....clang!
From then on, Krauser tried to take the game over and shot the game out of reach for the Panthers.
March wasn't too kind for Aaron Gray and Levon Kendall is SOFT.
The non-conference schedule must improve.
I'd rather see...
St Peter's - Pennsylvania
St Francis - Kent State
Auburn - Tennessee
Penn State - Michigan State
Coppin St - Xavier
Vermont - Gonzaga
South Carolina - North Carolina

You want a tough OC schedule, but you dont want it too tough, remember they play in the Big East. Start scheduling Gonzaga, UNC, Tennessee, Duke, Zona and add the BE Schedule and you may be in trouble to get to the tourney.
If they can add 2-3 ranked teams to there Non Conference schedule, but Xavier, Penn, and Kent State adds nothing.
UNC is a contender next year. They lost 7 great players from last years team, and look what Williams did this year. Hansbrough is sick.
I would like to see Pitt play..
Ohio State and Kentucky.. If they add a game against a west coast power, like UCLA, Zona, or Washington at MSG in the coaches for Cancer game.
Gonzaga is scheduled to play Duke next year in MSG, so Zags are booked and wont make a second trip this far East.
