Steelers resign Lee Mays

Post by DelPen »

Not a huge deal but that gives at least 3 competant WR's right now. Add Morgan back in and I'm not really worried about the position since I think Randle El could never run a route properly and when Roethlisberger threw INT's that looked horrible it was almost always to Randle El.

Looking at the Steelers, who survived free agency with very few holes to fill, pretty much a punt returner and that's it, they are in good shape right now but you look at Seattle who is getting gutted and have to feel happy.

Lee Mays probably won't make the team. The Steel need at least one more legitimate veteran receiver and probably a top 3 round draft choice to round out their receiving corps.

But that's exactly what I love about where the Steelers are right now. As another poster pointed out, they don't have to draft for a specific need as much as they can just select the BAA.

Such an awesome position to be in.

The UFA receiving crop is pretty thin right now. I wouldn't be surprised if the Steel were looking to make a draft day trade for a veteran. The rookie crop is also thin, but maybe they have a guy or 2 they like.

Right now the only vet I see worth signing as a #2 candidate is Tim Carter. He has a ton of physical ability but never caught on with the Gmen. I also like Marc Boerigter as a #4/5 type with upside to be a decent 3. I'm assuming they will bring Quincy Morgan back to return kicks and compete for the #3 job.
