As far as calling some kid the next great player it's dangerous. I don't think Daigle was going around and telling people he was the next Gretzky, people told him that and when he never lived up to the expectations people blamed him even though they set the bar too high.

Crosby came into the NHL with peopel telling him for years he was a superstar. When the 18 year old kid acts like the superstar that he is he gets called a brat by the nedia for arguing calls that all great players argue.

And people last year were writing articles that we should forget Crosby and Ovechkin because Phil Kessel is really the next great player. Kessel is a good player but he is not living up to the hype around him.

Only Ovechkin and Crosby have lived up to their draft hype since Mario. Thanks to the internet it's now possible for anyone to follow these pre-draft kids and see how they progress and we can form out own opinions about them easier.

I saw Tavaras play a few times this year. He had an amazing season for a 15 year old. He received a lot of notoriety because the OHL had to create an exception rule so he could play:

There is a kid from Quebec (Angelo Esposito) that is a year or two older that will probably be the top pick in 07. He also looked very good the few times I saw him play this season.

But "The Next Sidney"? What the hell does that even mean? The next #1 pick? Does that make Esposito "The Next Tavares"? Maybe the people who live down the hall from me are parents of "The Next Esposito". I'm sure he'll be draft-eligible in 16 years or so.
