Jagr is on fire tonight. It is a treat to watch him when he is flying like this. Umberger received a vicious hit from behind. He is very lucky to be back on the ice tonight.

The talent of Jagr is something to see when he has his head on straight. My personal favorite was the night he carried the Penguins on his back in Game 3 versus Philadelphia in 2000. I just looked up the box score and I had forgotten how badly Philly had outshot the Penguins (44-18). Jagr ended the night with 2 goals and an assist nearly giving the Penguins a 3-0 series lead all by himself. Unfortunately we all remember what happened two nights later and the series was over from that point on.

Jagr has had so many clutch moments, whether it be Game 2 against the Blackhawks during the 2nd Cup, the multiple OT goals he has against NJ in huge moments and the one he gets the least credit for is the pass to Lang which sprung Lang to a 2 on 1 with Kaspar in Game 7 against Buffalo.

Unfortunately he is going to be remembered by some as much for his talent as his personality and some will even let his personality overshadow his tremendous talent.

Jagr assisted on all 3 goals in that game 7 versus Buffalo. The last goal you mention was like the parting of the Red Sea when he drew 2 defenders to him on the boards before dishing it to Langer.

He'll always be the #2 Penguin in my book. He provided a lifetime of exciting and entertaining memories for my money. He was obviously quirky and some people took his trade demand as a personal insult. Athletes want change sometimes like getting out of a bad marriage. With the Pens finances he was bound to leave sooner or later.

Alot of my favorite Pens moments involve Jagr. Playing in the New Jersey series with the scuba pants on becuase of the bad groin. When Jagr has his head on his skill and talent stand head and shoulders above any other player in the league. When he is motivated, he can single handedly get his team a win. Jagr is the greatest player in the world right now.

Absolutely. However I honestly feel Jagr left that game last night feeling okay because he saw plenty of ice time and potted a hat. He didn't come off that upset they lost the game. The Flyers can't stop him. Putting 37 year old Desjardins out against him every shift is just asking him to embarass us. How do you defend him? If you give him space he'll burn you with his shot that has improved since he left. If you beat on him with a guy like Hatcher, it only pissed him off and besides he's too strong on his skates to knock around as if he's an average Joe.

That hit on RJ was much worse than the Orpik hit. If Orpik got two this jerkoff needs at least 3. Of course since Cole broke his neck and RJ returned the penalty will be less severe even though the act was more vicious.

The Flyers are on a roll. They played a hell of a game last night.

Agreed. The Flyers are playing good hockey right now. Someone must have said or did something to wake them up. I might be wrong, but I think Jagr may have a groin problem again right now. I don't think it is as severe as in the past, b ut with the post season right around the corner, they might be trying to save as much of him as they can. I would be inclined to sit him, if he were injured, but I think the Rags really want the home ice advantage, for as many rounds as they can get.

The NYR defense really missed Kaspar last night. Guys were parked in front of Lundqvist for easy tap-ins and deflections. That said, Kaspar obviously can't play 120 minutes per game so I think teams will exploit their defensive softness more as the playoffs approach. I also think Poti and Ozolinsh are incredibly soft human turnover machines. The Flyers showed the NHL the blueprint to exploit the NYR last night.

You know, I was almost ready to say Glen Sather did a great job as GM this year in New York but then he had to go and ruin it by acquiring Ozolinsh.

Same here. I still remember one particular sequence from a late-season game against Buffalo in 2000. Early in OT, Kip Miller (I think) flung the puck up to Jagr in the neutral zone, who skated around a stick thrown by a Sabre player, then proceeded to deke Hasek into a pretzel before burying the winner. Simply unreal.

I didn't like the way he left, but he was my favorite Penguin for a long time. He provided a lot of good memories even if you exclude his playoff performances.

I miss it out there. I'll be headed out there in December. My wife is from Carlsbad and her family lives in Vista. I still have many Marine friends that live in that area that I can't wait to see. Real Mexican food not the crap they pass off here in Pittsburgh. Colimas off Coast Highway is where I'm headed when we hit the ground.
