BTW, with his talent, being 39 isn't so bad. He'd get 40-50 points, probably. Most teams have a vet or two anyway.

If we do sign Jagr it won't be until right befor training camp, i am sure Shero will look into every other option befor we pitch and offer for him.

Ok thanks man, the only reason I was worried about waivers, was if by some miracle jagr would sign with us, the islanders would probably claim him just because they like to claim players who won't want to play for them

Versus coverage mentioning the rumors. Zach Parise said it could be very interesting if the Pittsburgh Penguin rumors are true. That said, I think it is a lot of wishful thinking.

I wouldn't have a problem with him being a low dollar chance at someone who can score some goals. His work rate might be sporadic at this point, but he is still great with the puck and has the great wrister.

I love that there are "rumors" because Rossi said he's being invited for a golf outing.

Don't forget that Bioshock said there could be news on Thursday or Friday.

I do think Shero is merely looking to talk personally since it seems he may not have been getting any messages through Omsk. Sounds like they just want him to feel that he is still welcome to be involved as a Pens alum, since there is no perceived tampering with a player under contract with a KHL club.

I agree with that. I'm not buying the "we're interested in signing him" kool-aid. After the way the Kovalev thing worked out, I can't see Shero or (especially) Bylsma being anxious to try something along those lines (player that doesnt' necessarily fit with their style of play / coach's system) again (for a full year, no less).

Did you feel that Guerin fit the system in 2009?

Far moreso than Kovalev or Jagr would.

Really? Guerin couldn't forecheck, receive a pass, onetime a shot, win a board battle, or really do much of anything for his full season here. Not saying Jagr fits like a glove but he really couldn't be worse than Kovy this year or Guerin last year.

And Guerin was largely signed because of his effectiveness during a cup run, when he was effective. Nevermind the fact that columbia asked about 2009, thus I thought that was the time he was referring to, not the "full season" which was 09-10.

Regardless, Guerin didn't "fit the system" the second season here - and was signed on the coattails of a time when he was able to perform many of those tasks - his eroding skillset made it so he didn't fit any system, let alone this one. What does that have to do with the fact that we all KNOW Jagr won't fit what they want to do, regardless of where his skills are (much like Kovalev)?

Why is THAT the litmus test? Again - Guerin was signed because he worked during a Cup - unfortunately, he wore down quickly - Kovy was a hail mary for the outset. Why are we considering chucking up another one when it's not necessary?

Not every old player is the same..... the comparisons to Kovy / Guerin is like stating "OMG DON'T SIGN ANYONE FROM FINLAND AGAIN PESONEN SUCKS." I'd like to think shero / the pens look at actual talent level.

I'm not really on board with Jagr anyways. I was just wondering how his fitting the system was worse than a man who was a detriment for an entire season.

As a matter of principle I don't like retreaded old guys.

Lol, what a joke reporter. He knew the tone of his report and he wrote it on purpose to make it interesting to people, he's starting to back away now.

Even though I said the article contained no real information and meant nothing, it was written in an EXTREMELY loaded manner
