Man, that's really cool. And by cool I mean totally gay.

I for one am gay, and by gay I mean gay. And I found the chicken dance thing to be, well, gay. Not that I am a typical gay man, but if something is gay, there ain't nothing wrong with calling it by its proper name!

I appreciate your candor, but that does not make his post any less offensive to me - and I am not gay. Acceptance of the term, as it was used, is just an example of overuse redefining a word. You only stand to prove my point. There is no example of the phrase in question using a "proper name". To the contrary, a lot of people would stand against your statement.

We'll just agree to disagree, then. ;-)
Oh, so its like white people being offended by sports names like the Atlanta Braves and Washington Redskins. We can just ignore it then. And please educate me, where in the constitution are you protected from being offended.

Actually...

Actually, 'totally gay' from the original post is exactly correct. The original word meant something straying from conformity or given to social pleasures. Typing this song into a forum (or singing it on LI) was certainly both of those things.

The 'bastardization' of the language actually occurred when this word was pinned to people of a certain sexual orientation that was viewed as being socailly different than the accepted standard. While certain gay people may be licentious, even by today's standards, they are no more prone to being such than any other group of people would be.

In addition, if you're going to correct people on reading comprehension, I suggest you read the main forum topics more closely. There is a NHR forum for non hockey related posts. Please take your agendized grammar topics there. To help those that are heavily concerned with correcting posts, I've created a topic there for you to take advantage of.

Please get your facts straight before you attack people. Better yet, why not just worry about talking about hockey, like the forum is intended to do.
