I don't even know if putting this post under NHR will make it be seen by whomever can help me.... but.... I've seen just about all of the O.G.s from LGP except for Padraic, our magic number man. Is he still here under another pseudonym?
Where oh where have you gone??? Any help would be appreciated.

I have not seen that name in a long time. Then again, you came back, so maybe it's only a matter of time.
If I remember correctly, didn't Padraic leave after the Jagr trade? He was upset with the Jagr/Caps bashing and switched allegiances to the Caps and was never spotted around here afterwards.

what I remember or don't is Padriac had a huge issue with
Mario returning to play as a player while owning the penguins.

In retrospect, sounds like he had some valid concerns.
Has anyone ever put together the numbers? After Mario bought the team and returned to the ice, how much salary did he tie up while appearing in how many games and contributing how many points?
Sounds like those would be some interesting stats.
I'll say it again, I have nothing but admiration and respect for Marios first Career. I'll be forever grateful to him for taking control of the Pens and bringing them out of bankruptcy. But his double dipping and medling in personal decisions over the past few seasons served to hurt the Pens.
It sounds like he's strictly an owner now and has handed off all hockey matters to Sawyer. That's a perfect role for him at this stage of his life.

Obviously Mario's return was a bad move from a statistical and reputation standpoint. I do think way too much of a stink is made about his "doubel dipping". The only people he was hurting with his salaries were the other owners and clearly they felt the additional attendance Mario generated was worth it.
Clearly with the team bleeding money the past few years, Mario's player salary never would have been spent elsewhere. It wasn't a case of "If we didn't have Mario we could have Kovy and Lang". It was a case of "we can have Mario or some other failed prospect/ahl scrub/has been".
