Holy Lindy Ruff, Batman...

I'd say he sounds A TAD angry.
I didn't see the hit, but I never put anything past Tucker, so....
Anyone have any insight on the incidents that occured?
Apparantly the injury is actually kinda serious. Hecht is a big part of the Buffalo team, so it's gonna hurt them for the post-season, at least it's likley at this point.

No, he needs to be told his career is finished today, that he will never play another game in the NHL. If the league is really serious about cleaning up the game, then they kick this two-bit thug out for good. Ruff is a guy I respect, and he's certainly not known as a whiner. For him to call out a player like that tells you how bad this play was. I admit, though, that I didn't see it. But I would love nothing more than for Tucker to get banned for good.ExPatriatePen wrote:Tuckers done this many times before... I'll never forget what he did to Pecca (Damn near the exact same thing)
Lindy Ruff is right. Tucker needs to be suspended for the rest of he season and told one more time and his career is over.

Just thought of something else about this too, and it makes me sick. I did tune in this game in time to see the shootout, and guess who was the Leafs' second shooter? Yep, none other than Darcy Tucker. That ******* Quinn actually rewarded him for his dirty play by letting him go in the shootout. What a buffoon Quinn is.

Quinn's nearly as bad himself.Mad City Mike wrote:Quinn actually rewarded him for his dirty play by letting him go in the shootout. What a buffoon Quinn is.
There's just something about that Torono Market where those guys think there's a different set of rules that apply to them. Reminds me of Philly.

Maybe a decade ago. ****, I wish the Flyers were dirty.ExPatriatePen wrote:Quinn's nearly as bad himself.Mad City Mike wrote:Quinn actually rewarded him for his dirty play by letting him go in the shootout. What a buffoon Quinn is.

Ruff really shouldn't be whining. He's always had a cheap shotting team.

Peca although he was only there for a brief time was known to be dirty at times. Boulton had questionable hits the past couple of years.Mad City Mike wrote:He has? Give me one example of them puting a guy out for the year like Tucker has for at least the SECOND time. Hell, he damn near *ended* Peccas career.FlyerNation wrote:Peca although he was only there for a brief time was known to be dirty at times. Boulton had questionable hits the past couple of years.
Besides, did you see what happened? Tucker was retaliating for a CLEAN hit.
He was just pissed off and embarassed that he was caught with his head down.

Well it is a moot point. The league has decided NOT to suspend Tucker. This is just a day after they hand Brendan Witt a one game suspension for a kneeing infraction. Now this is where I have issues with the league. If Andre Roy or Eric Cairns would have done what Tucker did, it would have been a suspension---you can bank on that. I will go one further, if Derian Hatcher or Denis Gauthier would have committted that hit, they would have been suspended.
There is a definite double standard in this league. The NHL has boasted in the off season, they are going to address dirty hits, with heavy fines and suspensions. Well to quote Lindy Ruff "that is a joke". This is also where the league has no "identity". Buffalo is now going to be forced to exact revenge during the last meeting between these two teams. It's going to be an interesting game to watch.
This league has no idea what it wants to be. It doles out punishment based on player name and reputation, not by the definition of the rules.

Tucker's hit on Peca was karma coming around to bite Mike in the butt. Just because Peca is also a ******* doesn't excuse Tucker for being an even bigger one though.
If Tucker isn't suspended, then it's the same as them condoning what Tucker did.We all know how hockey players are. They have long memories and someone WILL go after him. I hope it doesn't get out of hand, but the league could avoid it by dropping the hammer on that goofball.
They could at least send Mick McGeough to his house to rough him up a little.

Sorry Net but the league has already issued a statement, and Tucker escapes again.

You read that article and it's obvious that the league is easing up on infractions going into the playoffs.Jamie wrote:http://www.nhl.com/news/2006/04/267180.html

It's a serious mistake. You can't have two different sets of rules, one for the regular season and one for the stretech run.
I agree with the other posters, someone is going to go vigilante and the league will regret not taking action when they had the opportunity.

You know, if they didn't go after Bertuzzi and ban him for what he did, they won't do likewise for Tucker...it would be justifiable though. Guys that are cheapshot artists should have a 3 strikes rule in the NHL, or even a zero tolerance policy. It's one thing to play a phisical game, but it's another to go out and deliberately hurt somebody. This is true at all levels of the sport. Intent to injure does not belong.
It is a coincidence that something like this should happen to Peca, who has been accused of similar acts in his career.

Agreed! There seems to be a second set of rules that apply to some players. Because they play hard & play well(for the most part) then when they cheapshot some one it's okay. But it's NOT okay. This isn't an example of "oh it was just this time;" this was something that Tucker does on a regular basis.jimjom wrote:You know, if they didn't go after Bertuzzi and ban him for what he did, they won't do likewise for Tucker...it would be justifiable though. Why isn't he reprimanded & suspended like other players would be?
I heard one Oilers announcer call a vicious Peca knee to knee hit 'a bobble'? A BOBBLE??? The guy was out to take the players knee out!

I'd like to bobble him & Tucker right into a hospital bed myself!
I don't approve of the DIVE role, I think that is what the joke is. However players like Tucker are slapped on the hands lightly too often. He should be suspended for a long time and their whole team should be fined.
I didnt actually see the hit, I just like Mr. Ruff and I hate Tucker and the leafs!
