Anyone use TurboTax?

Post by Bowser »

I was planning to do my taxes myself this year but last week I lost time and I've been putting it off. I bought TurboTax but I'm not sure its working correctly.

The Federal Taxes paid from the W-2 section are not adding up correctly.

I'm getting a little irritated.

has anyone used this program, if so, are you satisfied?

I'm not sure I want to continue using this if it can't add two figures correctly.

I used it in the past, but not this year. Last year, the program included some nasty spyware, and I vowed never to use it again. This year, I am using TaxAct, the basic version of which you can download for free at http://www.taxact.com/. It seems very good, and is certified to be spyware free.

Turbo Tax usually worked fine for me, other than operator error. Well, the one thing I did have trouble with and ended up having to file an amended return was because TT was unclear on where to enter something.

Mine were relative striaghtforward so I just filed online at H&R block. No program to buy; everything is done online. $19.95 to complete your return and e-dile.

I also used Tax Act, and I love it. I file long form, due to the fact I write alot of stuff off, such as mortgage interest, and work related purchases. I find Tax Act to be simple, and inexpensive.

I did mine online and had no problems at all. In fact i loved it. Now next year with living situations possibly changing and other investments i may just take it to an accountant.

Hi, I do taxes for Block during tax season. What are you comparing? Box 2 of W-2s to withholding line on 1040? Do you have anything else that is taxable such as a pension or 1099 distribution? Also, was there excess SS tax withheld?
