This team is really not that bad

I can remember losing to 12-0 to montreal, and 13-4 against the flyers in the 70's and 80's. Those were BAD teams. You people dont know what bad hockey is, and this "aint" it, so to speak.

Has this bunch been spanked THAT bad? No.

As a matter of fact, theyve hung in quite a number of games, and Lundquist made some tough saves on 87 last night. They have quite a number of OTL's too.

When Marc Andre gets his game together to make the timely save (hes getting there), the defense tightens up some more, and they are in good enough cardio shape to be able to think out there and not worry about catching breath (did you see the gonch hunched over last night-pathetic) and conversely taking dumb penalties, things will improve.

And just like with buffalo, all of a sudden the improvemnet will be dramatic.

I know bowswer, but I hear alot of hockey people say hes NOT making the timely save. He gives up a crucial goal at the worst possible time. I know the defense has alot to do with it, but he's got to start stopping some too.

It will come, and im patient enough to wait.

You wanna blame something...take your pick of the defense OR offense. That is where the problem lies.

Makes me sick on how people still continue to dis Fluery. If its not for him that game was easily 6-1. What more do you expect of him to keep his team in the game WHO CANT SCORE MORE THAN 2 GOALS.

By the way, im not picking on Fleury. They all need to improve. Its not going to happen overnight, especially when youre now vying with 29 other teams for players.

I wouldnt be surprised if the Blues do not make the playoffs for 10 years now that they are tearing down and going to rebuild.

Sure, if Fleury stopped 99% of the other team's shots, we could win on the 1 or 2 goals we usually score. But to still blame the kid because nobody is giving him any support is insane.

also would like to mention that the pens have been getting nooooooooo i mean absolutely noooooooo breaks...

i am on the side the thinks fleury makes every save he possibly can... here is a way to look at it... you who believe he needs to still pick it up... if t-bound... or caron or who knows who else were in goal... we would never get to that timely save... fleury doenst make all the saves... but he makes big saves to even get to the "timely save"

did any of that make sense...

plus back to the bounces goign our way... if 2 or 3 of the bell ringers go in last night we would be sitting here praising fleury for his stuffs on straka, jags, and all the rags!

I agree with the original point that this tam isnt all that bad. They are close in games and i dont hear too much in the way of bad attitiudes except from Recchi who is trade bait (I hear and I hope). Crosby, Malkin, Fleury, Whitney, Scuderi, Noah Welch, most of the WB guys on the team now, not to mention the guy we'll get in this years draft looks like a promising future, even if the present is hard to bear. What do you think it was like to be an Ottawa fan or Atlanta fan only a co years ago?

And I have to believe (bcz thealternative is too hard to bear) that Gonchar is a proud man and will come ready to play next year--it is impossible to get into shape once the season starts.

I'm not a diehard Thierrien man, but I certainly hope that the team picks a concept and sticks with it. Therrien's system is proven to work in this league if he's allowed to enforce it. The talent is clearly there to play that system. This is where I hope to see the leaders, esp Crosby and Gonchar (since we are stuck with him), be vocal about supporting him, on the ice and in the press.

So, I guess I say goodbye to Recchi (and good riddance) and Leclair (with thanks to a classy guy). Let's start playing for next year.

The reason people might say that Fleury doesn't make the timely big save is because he makes it, but the ****, I mean defense, in front of him proceeds to make him make the huge stops more than he needs to.

The least of the team's problems is the goaltending. They need much better overall defense, as well as more quality on the top 2 lines, so that they can balance out the top lines better and leave one line as the primary checking line.
