Stan promises to talk about the arena issue with him. Didn't say he'd take calls, though.

What's He Supposed to Ask?

Post by Mad City Mike »

Stan: Governor, there are those who say the fix is in and because of their contributions to your campaign, the Station Square group has basically already been awarded the slots license for western Pennsylvania. Is this true?

Guv: Absolutely not

Stan: Has the Station Square group promised you a lucrative consulting position after your term as governor?

Guv: That's ludicrous. No further questions.

Stan: But, Governor, you seem to be saying recently that the Pens should look to a Plan B that includes public funding. This directly contradicts your past position, does it not?

Guv: No comment.

Stan: The Isle of Capri plan clearly helps this city more than any other plan. Why won't you publicly endorse it?

Guv: Thank you for your time, Stan. I have run to an event to collect bribes, er, campaign contribtions.

Stan: Thanks, Governor Pigbreath.

Or, it could be this.

Stan: Governor, as you know, I am thinking of running for Congress. Will you publicly endorse me here today?

Guv: Yes, you are clearly the best man for the job. I will give you all the financial support you need.

Stan: Then I have no questions for you. I have come to understand that the Station Square plan is indeed best for this city.

I just emailed Stan and begged him to post a transcript of his interview on the Fox970 website. I was spitting nails listening to that liar spew his rhetoric.

And to make matters worse (and when I thought I couldn't hate that lying bastard any more) he kept referring to the Steelers as "We" and "Our team" Go back to nuthugging the Eagles you scumball.

I hate that slimedog. Kept saying "after WE win this Sunday". I hope he falls off the bandwagon and breaks his neck.

Anyhow, he essentially said the Forest City plan was a whole lot better than the Capri plan because it creates a lot more yearly tax revenues locally. Don't know if this is true or not. He said nothing good about the Capri plan. Said the arena revenue was going to be private and would not produce as much money as a "public" arena. Don't know if this is true or not, but suggested that Capri would take a lot of the money the arena generates.

He did say that he could deal with a public screaming about a publicly financed building, if it happened. He is clearly laying the onus for all this on the team.

I think the fix is definitley in. Slime ball also stated the arena was not "free" because the revenue does not go to the Sports Authority. Rendell also stated he is sticking his neck out by his willingness to use public money, and no one should give him any grief over this issue. Something definitley stinks.

That it would be owned by the City. What gives??????????????

Our only option is to make the politicians lives HELL and crush them with letters and the promise that we will actively campaign against them.

Rendell was on with Fred Honsperger on Thursday.

He said the licenses will de doled out in November or December.
He said he has no say in the board decision, and the law is written so the board will not be influenced by outsiders (if you believe that)
He said the board has about 13 differnet things to look at including the casino size and how much tax dollars it generates for this state. (thats what the politicos are being dickheads about)

Mario needs to show how much charity his golf tourney generates, and tell how much he's given to hospitals in the region. He should also consider moving elsewhere to do this work if the team leaves.

Id like to see the medical community start speaking up for Mario

I'm starting to believe that exact statement. Mario has done so much more for this city than any other pro athlete in Pittsburgh history. Hell, he may have given more to this city than any other pro athlete has done anywhere in the US. What other pro athlete has saved their team from bankruptcy and put forth plans to generate $1 Billion in economic development?

The thing that really gets to me is that this city has shown LITTLE support for him to this point. Where are the Children's Hospitals, etc. in support of Lemieux? I'm sorry, but they need to wake up, quit riding his coattails and start talking about everything he has done for this region. Based on what he has done, I think that is the least he deserves from some of these people. At the very least, I think the money he has donated to those organizations should be buying the PR.
