I do too. I call all players by their last name, except Lecavalier, because I have developed a relationship with him that he may or may not know about.

To me that's like people who say "we" when talking about their favorite team. Like, "Ooh, we just had a 15-game winning streak."
I really hate when people do that. Friends will talk to me about one of my teams and say something like "you" in reference to the team and I will respond saying "they" and it makes the conversation flow poorly. I do not like grouping myself as part of the team though, its very inaccurate.

But "we won the Cup" sounds so much better than "they won the Cup".

It seems pretty harmless, though I'm not inclined to use it.
Though I imagine I have a few times.

I don't think i've ever been in a situation where I would say either of those things.

That's serious. Joins right around the loss to the Red Wings in 2008. Stays through the Cup run of 2009, and leaves in disgust in 2010.

I know that German/European soccer fans do it all the time. Maybe that's because soccer clubs used to actually belong to the fans. Or to be more precise, to the club members.

Don't European soccer fans frequently travel with their team to away games? They seem much more a part of the organization and I don't really think its a fair comparison.

Haha aren't they driving around Italy though? That wasn't exactly what I meant.

Yes, it's definitely different. I wasn't trying to make a comparison, just pointing out why I say "we" and "us" when referring to the Pens sometimes without really thinking about it.

I say "we" when referring to the Penguins sometimes. I don't think I do it on purpose, but I certainly wouldn't apologize for it.

I probably say it sometimes, but I try my best not to. The only claim I have to being a part of them is that i'm a STH...one that only gets to about 5-6 games a season now.

When the Pens win, I say "we". When the Pens lose, I say "they". :pop:

I don’t try to us “we” and “us” when talking about the Pens like I am part of the team, but when I am discussing my team with fans of another team, or when I am talking about the Penguins compared to other teams with other Penguins fans; I will not be hesitant to utilize the available language of “us” and “them” and hope that the person listening to me has enough contextual comprehension to understand that I am not trying to claim membership or direct association with the Penguins organization, but just trying distinguish between the team I am supporting and the rest of the league.

Today's LGP Member of the Day is "TeamCake":

TeamCake is 31. He has two posts. TeamCake last visited the board in 2012.

TeamCake once said this:

His other post is worth mentioning, too:

Hi everyone.

I’ve been a long time reader of LGP.com and finally decided to join based on this coffee topic. Go figure.

Anyway I work from home so I drink most of my coffee from the comfort of my home office. I own a coffee grinder so I can grind my own beans but have yet to find an inexpensive “go to” coffee brand. I like my coffee strong and not a fan of flavored coffee. I am currently drinking Eight O’Clock original and its “meh”.

Do you guys have any low cost recommendations?

I also think that McDonald's coffee has a "soft" taste to it, if that makes any sense.
