My records show that the only pick traded so far for this draft was MelicharSux traded his lst round pick in this draft to Hammer. Can anyone else verify?

People were keeping all over the place last year with other people's picks. Hammer, SDD, and Kicksave all had keepers in slots that were not their own. If that is not allowed going forward, that's fine, but I just want to make sure.
I don't remember this one way or the other. It seems counter-intuitive to allow someone keeping last year's 3rd rounder for this year's 2nd round pick to trade with the person who is picking last in that round---so that they can give away their higher pick for assets since they are indifferent between where they pick in a given round.

E.g.,

I am keeping Fred Jackson for a 2nd round pick (I'm not).

I pick first in the second round, 13th over all. Kraft is picking last in the second round, 24th overall. I would have a lot of trouble with the idea that I could give Kraftster the 13th overall pick for the 24th overall pick and a 4th rounder, for instance. That would leave me in an identical position: either way I keep Fred Jackson. But I am essentially free rolling with a very high-value pick (that I can't use) and in the process hurting those that would have gotten to pick ahead of Kraftster had I not been able to make that trade.

I agree. You shouldn't be able to trade a pick that you technically don't have since you kept a player in place of that pick. I don't remember that happening last year.

It doesn't really strike me as counterintuitive to allow it, but I am fine with whatever the rule is. I just wanted to clarify.

In general, I don't oppose anything that promotes trading/player movement. Two years ago, Kicksave had given up a 2nd round pick and then realized he needed to go get one in order to keep Lesean McCoy. He was able to find a trade partner and he made that work. It wasn't his own 2nd rounder, and I don't really see a big deal about that.

All of that happened before draft slots were selected. So, its hard to see a problem with that. But, if you introduce that as being okay (you can keep a player with a pick other than your own), then you'd have to draw a line at the point where the draft order is decided. Well, that may seem like a reasonable line to draw if only looking at your extreme example above (I totally understand why you chose that example, and it corssed my mind as well. It is, however, the most extreme example possible). The problem is the middle ground types of trades that would not remotely be about any type of draft order circumvention.

Take my situation, for example. A couple things that we can look at here. Responding most directly to the extreme example above, Doug Martin's value to me takes a hit knowing I have to keep him with 2.03. Since I have other keeper options, in theory, I'd even consider not keeping him as a result of the draft order. If I'm not going to keep him, that means I'm going to pick a player from the draft pool at 2.03. People picking at 2.04, 2.05, 2.06 were always going to have a draft pool player selected at 2.03. Now, suppose I can go out and trade for 2.10, a place I'd more easily justify Martin over Eric Decker. If I can acquire 2.10, trade 2.03 either in the same or another deal, and keep Martin at 2.10, I'm probably going to kick Decker back into the draft. So now whoever receives my 2.03 pick is going to pick a player in that slot just as I was going to and a player that wasn't going to be kept will be kept at a later point in the round.

The extreme second round scenario is the only one where there is the potential for a remarkable difference. I get a rule designed to close off that possibility, but it also closes of the possibility for some very real maneuvering that is based upon real player values and not a "what do I care where I keep this guy I'm keeping him regardless" type of concept.

I don't know.

tl;dnr Kraftster loves trading.

Ok. I understand what we are talking about now. I agree with Kraftster that you can acquire a pick to use for a keeper.

If Amendola is healthy, I think my group of keepers wins. :pop:

Bryant for 5th
Lynch for 12th
Amendola for 13th

It is hard for me to see Bryant explode like he has, but I did win that year that we traded, so I guess I should be okay with it.

Beerman is in.

Still no response on the two open places. Any suggestions for posters to approach about those spots? And can someone with yahoo access post the final rosters from those two teams so we can get an idea who the keepers would be.

Apparently the winning formula is to draft 3 QBs in your top 6 or so picks.

I still can't believe that you won despite that. I was so sure you were going to be screwed if you didn't move at least one of them real early.

I just assume Kraftster got lucky at all times.

My keepers are Stafford, Gronk, and Torrey Smith. I will definitely be thinking RB RB, although I picked twice in the 1st round and twice in the 2nd last year and missed the friggin playoffs!

Ha. I'm one lucky guy then. With four consecutive titles across three sports I should be playing the lottery pretty regularly.

Keepers:

RGIII (acquired in trade with Kraftster) for a 5th rounder
Alford Morris - 13th rounder

Have we come to a decision on whether we keep a player with a draft pick that was traded for? If it's allowed I'm looking for an extra 13th rounder.

Also, if we can't find anyone to take the two teams is it possible to just have a 10 team league? Hammer would just get an extra 1st round pick this year.

I would hate moving to 10 teams, personally.

Troy said we can't keep with acquired picks. Sounds like you may be able to keep a guy for a pick a round earlier, though.

Bryant for last, this, and several next seasons should do.
