Re: Wedding Planning Thread
can you rent luxury suites at Pitt games? you can get booze in there. i did when i sat in the American Eagle box. haha my friend and I drank 19 of the 24 Heineken keg cans. that was all there was for the whole box lol.
i looked into a Penguins one a few years ago, before the stanley cup. it wouldve been something like $180 per person (plus the cost of food). i doubt renting an individual box for a single game is possible now.

Sporting clays is fun. We did that for my dad's 70th birthday. Sounds like a great way to start off a bachelor party.

Sitting here waiting for a guy to buy our chair covers. Only lost 40 bucks on them, I'd say that's a win.

with a white klan robe?
i saw the phrase wedding industrial complex recently and i love that. from my time selling tvs i can tell you that upselling many women is really easy once you start talking credit cards and payment plans. i dated a girl once who had brand new tires on her car and was about to let jiffy lube rotate them. they were 6 weeks old! just say no!

I have always avoided shotgunning like trap, skeet, and sporting clays. I didn’t avoid them because that I thought such activities wouldn’t be fun; I avoided them for the same reason that if you don’t want to become a crackhead the first thing to do is never smoke crack. I mean, you shoot stuff that, if properly hit, blows up in mid air. How can you not want to do that? Of course, it also requires a $hotgun, ammo, accessories, plenty of time and practice, etc., and I was trying to avoid that.yubb wrote:Sporting clays is fun. We did that for my dad's 70th birthday. So... anyway... I’ve already started shopping for an over/under shotgun. Dammit.

Yeah, the chairs here were all different colors. The caterer wanted $6 a chair to rent them, we bought them ourselves. If we didnt have them, it would have made everything else look crappy. Definitely worth the couple hundred dollars in the grand scheme of things, and ended up being a minimal loss out of pocket.Hockeynut! wrote:Covers an ugly chair.pittsoccer33 wrote:seriously what purpose does a chair cover serve? id be so angry about spending money on something so frivelous id cancel the wedding.

Over/under is going to leave you with a sore shoulder by the last station. I thought about getting a semi after going a few weeks ago. But I'm like you; I'll go all crack addict on it and spend way too much money on something that could otherwise be a fun thing to do from time to time.Shyster wrote:I have always avoided shotgunning like trap, skeet, and sporting clays. Re: Wedding Planning Thread
One of my best friends from college is getting married soon. They actually met at a party I threw. Since they've moved out of state I can't say I talk to them much anymore.
I got my invitation and it was addressed to me only, which really bummed me out because I wanted to introduce the girl I've been dating for the past 13 months to everyone.
Is there any sort of acceptable way to ask if she can come? My theory is that the bride to be did the list and didn't know that I was in a long term relationship.
I don't want to seem ungrateful or try to impose. A few of my friends said they want me to ask but it doesn't seem right to do. One said text message, one said call, and my thought was RSVP for me alone with a note saying I would like to bring her but understand fully why they would say no. I thought that way gave them an easy out so they wouldn't feel pressured into saying yes.

I would call or text. Thank him for the invite and ask if you could have a plus one. I'd do it that was as opposed to sending in the RSVP with an ask on them to respond back to you about the plus one. I just wouldn't want to rely on them to have to get back to you...they're probably pretty busy and mentally pre occupied. easy to forget about it.

Re: Wedding Planning Thread
id say let it go. maybe they were capped at the number of people they were inviting and if they say yes to your gf, it will cause trouble with other sides of the family if they didnt get to invite one or two more.

Re: Wedding Planning Thread
I'd do the call or text too.
I remember for my wedding, all of my high school buddies were single so I just invited them, but the one that moved away was in a long term relationship I didn't know about. He called and we had no problem letting him bring a date.
Just say what you posted, that you'd understand if they didn't want the +1, but you were just checking.

Re: Wedding Planning Thread
he said they had a pretty hard limit, but i could ask again in September to see if someone dropped off.
i'm a little bummed but no hard feelings. the last thing i wanted was for them to make an exception on my behalf and upset someone else who felt entitled or whatever.
she lives near the venue, so ill make her DD and im sure the thing will wrap up around 9 or 10, so we'll go out afterward and i can introduce her to my friends.
i think she feels a little bit sad over it though.

Yeah, it's a tough situation on both sides. I think you are doing the right thing. Can bring her out after.pittsoccer33 wrote:he said they had a pretty hard limit, but i could ask again in September to see if someone dropped off.

I'd probably stay away from that unless the bride/groom agree to it.mac5155 wrote:depending on the venue maybe she could pop out after dinner for drinking and dancing?

Re: Wedding Planning Thread
went and applied for our marriage license today. the lady gave my fiancee a bit of a hard time over not knowing where her father is currently located or his current job. even after explaining that she hasn't had contact with him in over a decade, she insisted that she at least guess where he's located and job he currently has. I would think that not having contact with a parent isn't too unique of a situation.
