Caron is still awful....

Post by Goalie »

He is not directly responsible for any of the goals, nor has he done anything to prevent any of them either.

He managed to be totally out of the net on the first one, watched the man instead of the puck on the third one and totally lost the puck on the fourth one as it went behind the net which caused him to be way late getting over on the shooter.

He has recieved much help as I said but he has not helped much either.

Would anyone care?

I love this team, but this is just, for lack of a more fitting word, pathetic.

The 11 year old kids I coach try harder than these grown men.

And don't get me started on the "new" NHL......
I would care

I'd get over it.

This team may suck, but I will take bad hockey over no hockey at all.

Well, I tried to be clever with my Kaspar-owning-Hasek reference, but nobody wants to play that game.

That's the mentality that will cause this team to leave here....I just don't get it.

It's not like we have had a team that has been terrible for 20 years. The last 5 years at most have been rough, we were in the conference finals in 01 for gods sake...

Things will get better...

I am a 20 game season ticket holder, and as bad as this team has been I still don't feel I wasted my money at all.

I dont think the Penguins care if they stay. They just want to sell it to the highest bidder and after that who cares. Another top 5 draft pick will up the price tag 20 million dollars. Thats why they threw the season. :P

I'll be a fan of this team regardless of where they play.
Location means nothing to me... I'll watch them just as often either way - might not be able to see them live 20 times a year, but I'll still watch ever game.

The point though, is that if the team is so horribly mismanaged - which it has been over the past decade - and if the players are so lazy - which they have been this season - why should I care if they play or not?
I'm not arguing that the team is mismanged. There is no doubt that it is, and has been for a long time.

If this teams leaves though, for me at least, I'm done following them. They won't be the same team, it just wouldn't be the same. At least that's how I think of it now, I hope it doesn't come to that though.

I just hate too see fans so apathetic at this point, cause this time next year we could be winding down to the last 20 or so home games the Pens have in the city of Pittsburgh.

Can someone explain to me why that was boarding? Wasn't behind and it was more than 3 feet from the boards.

Apparently a cross check to the back where a guy goes in face first is not boarding but that is.

does anyone else notice that almost every time the penguins play someone there are more combined penalties than in almost every other game being played.....am I the only one tired of this basketball approach to the penalties being called?

http://www.nhl.com/rules/rule44.html

"A minor or major penalty, at the discretion of the Referee, based upon the degree of violence of the impact with the boards, shall be imposed on any player who checks an opponent in such a manner that causes the opponent to be thrown violently in the boards."

So if it looks bad it's a penalty. What a horrible written rule.

When its deemed a dangerous situation its an automatic 5. Being 10 feet from the boards and getting shoved IS dangerous. Bogs should have went for the puck that time, that guy was a duck.

Bad hockey teams will either:

1) Take a lot of penalties.

OR

2) Avoid taking penalties, and get outscored by 2 touchdowns...

why does the city they play in matter though?
Croz will still be there. Orpik will still be there. MAF will still be there. Malkin will hopefully be there. Whitney will be there. Christensen will be there. Wah-let will be there. Melichar will be there.

what more could I ask for?
They are the Pittsburgh Penguins, not the KC Penguins, not the Portland or Las Vegas Pens. That's why it matters to me. I grew up with the Pittsburgh penguins, I can't just all of a sudden start rooting for a team in a different state even if they have the same players... I can't go to any games if they are in KC or Portland etc...

That's just me though, I know other people feel differently. I may feel differently if it actually happens.

True statement sausage king of Chicago, but I know from watching almost all the games on a big screen (which mind you the NHL could use for replays...need I mention the calgary game) and alot of these calls are terrible at best, its just like basketball, touch em and its a foul.....I understand they want scoring but at what cost....typical Americans ruining something beautiful with their "higher scores is more fun" mentality...and btw I am an american....so I guess the FBI will bust down my door in a few for saying that....

I agree, I know I couldnt root for the Los Angeles Steelers for example, I wonder how many Hartforders are big Hurricanes fans....eventually the Pittsburgh players would be gone, and all thats left is a memory of a city that once had that team.....
