Re: Varlamov Arrested
I saw it was a domestic situation. No telling what happened unless they have witnesses.

Saw it reported as Domestic Violence... 2nd degree kidnapping seems above and beyond domestic violence.
Glad I didn't cut Giguere....

What? Did he beat up someone then drive them in a car and refuse to let them out?

Ill reserve judgement, though it doesnt sound good. Its easy for me to imagine him being with someone that has disapproving parents who called the cops on him or something...or hes a crazy russian goalie.

(1) A person commits the crime of kidnapping in the second degree if, with intent to interfere substantially with another's personal liberty, and without consent or legal authority, the person:
(a) Takes the person from one place to another; or
(b) Secretly confines the person in a place where the person is not likely to be found;

Some interesting stuff on Ryan Parker's twitter page: https://twitter.com/ryanparkerdp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The class 4 felony kidnapping charge means someone was taken without their consent. That charge carries 2-6 years in prison
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
BREAKING: #Varlamov cannot bail out of jail because of the assault charge. Must see a judge before he can leave. #avalanche

Re: Varlamov Arrested
I just went out to drop him from my fantasy team, and saw an alert that said 987 fantasy teams dropped Varly.
It is now 988.
I want to hear all sides before passing judgement. But this sounds bad.

I say crazy Russian goalie.
But it isn't just Russians. Didn't Roy rip a door off its' hinges to get at his wife during a fight? It was when he was playing for the Avs.

Goaltenders are strange people. Our old coach used to say when they were coaching peewee there was always one kid by himself starring up at the lights and they would just say get him some goalie gear!

Hate to see this. NHL players usually behave themselves better than other pro athletes.

yet you don't deny it. I must agree that goalies are...different. I believe that they're cut from the same cloth as drummers.meow wrote:I take offense to that.CERV96 wrote:Goaltenders are strange people. If he is convicted, he can be deported. So it works out for Team Russia...shoeshine boy wrote:gotta love those Russian officials:

Re: Varlamov Arrested
I think the point is that the Avs will likely suspend him and therefore he'll miss out on the necessary training and not be in game shape for the Olympics. any trial or conviction likely wouldn't happen for several months.llipgh2 wrote:If he is convicted, he can be deported. Re: Varlamov Arrested
I honestly don't know if they will suspend him. Roy has had brushes with the law over domestic disputes in the past. And we honestly don't know all the details. We have to see what shakes out. He may still be allowed to play.shoeshine boy wrote:I think the point is that the Avs will likely suspend him and therefore he'll miss out on the necessary training and not be in game shape for the Olympics. any trial or conviction likely wouldn't happen for several months.llipgh2 wrote:If he is convicted, he can be deported. As a Giguere owner, this works to my advantage.
