Re: Tax Season!
Mine should be in on Tuesday.
Paying off all the pissy little bills from Christmas, the Kohl's bill Mrs. PghSkins somehow manages to maintain at about $700 at all times, the next 6 months car insurance and maybe have enough left over for a quality new turntable and a Jerry's Records shopping spree.

I'm pretty much paying for impatience over the last year. I really need to let my 4 year old play with my credit cars so we can't find themPghSkins wrote:Mine should be in on Tuesday.

Re: Tax Season!
Question..my state income Is $5k higher than my local income. My local tax on my return Is saying that I am $50 short because it's calculating my local tax based off my state income. Is this correct?

I'm not an accountant, but yes, this is correct. Mine also works this way.mac5155 wrote:Question..my state income Is $5k higher than my local income. My local tax on my return Is saying that I am $50 short because it's calculating my local tax based off my state income. Is this correct?

Re: Tax Season!
How is my federal income one number, my local income is $4k higher, and my state income is $9k higher, than federal? I looked at last year's W2 and they're all the same. Did something change this year?slappybrown wrote:I'm not an accountant, but yes, this is correct. Mine also works this way.mac5155 wrote:Question..my state income Is $5k higher than my local income. Re: Tax Season!
didn't you get married last year? maybe that changed the amount of your income that is federally taxable? I have no idea, maybe a good question for your employer.

Re: Tax Season!
lol... likewise. I had the option for them to just throw it onto next year's return. I wish I could just send the state a letter saying, keep the change.shafnutz05 wrote:I got one dollar back from Pennsylvania this year

Re: Tax Season!
you didn't change your status to "married"? best thing to do is ask your employer.

Re: Tax Season!
It's one thing to do married filing separately, but you didn't even change your W4 from single? I'm no expert, but I can't think that would be good.mac5155 wrote:hm, no, I didn't change anything on my W4.count2infinity wrote:didn't you get married last year? maybe that changed the amount of your income that is federally taxable? And from everything I've read, unless in very particular circumstances, married filing separately is a pretty unfavorable status to be in.

Re: Tax Season!
fun story about my little brother...
as kids we always ate breakfast at home before going to school. for whatever reason my brother liked to tell my mom that he wasn't hungry and eat breakfast at school. well my mom had no idea and of course, it costs money to do this. One day he took a $50 from either my sister's sock drawer or my mom's wallet... not sure which. took it to school and for a 50 cents or whatever it was breakfast, gave the lady a $50 bill and smiled and said "keep the change". Of course the lunch lady told the principal who called home and relayed the story. I think it took everything in my mom to not laugh as she was yelling at him about it.
