This Might Be a Guy to Look At

Post by Mad City Mike »

"Vernon Fiddler looks like the odd man out as he has been a healthy stratch the last two games. He`s drawing some interest for potential trades, however, most teams are waiting to see what happens when (if) David Legwand returns. The Preds are carrying the roster maximum right now and Fiddler would have to clear waivers if the Preds decide to send him down to Milwaukee, considering his overall play this year, he would not clear..."

He sure isn't a top two line guy, but he would be a definite upgrade over anything they have at center except for Crosby.

ANYONE that is a natural center would be a good addition at this point. Last night, the Pens had one natural centerman dressed: Shane Endicott.

Crosby is the only other one on the roster and he was out sick. Meanwhile, Erik Christensen and Max Talbot are in Wilkes-Barre.

It was nice to see last year's version of Ryan Malone show up, if only for half a game. That said, having him and Mark Recchi as your top two centers is not going to work.

At one point last night, John LeClair took a defensive zone faceoff, and it wasn't because the center had been thrown out. To his credit, he won it clean, but I don't think he should be taking draws on a regualr basis.

You beat me to it. I mentioned this to Jerez last night. It is a disgrace that a GM could put together as team that puts out Endicott as its only natural center. So Crosby dresses? That gives you exactly two natural centers on the roster. I cannot even begin to imagine that any other GM in any level of hockey would put together a roster with only two natural centers. It is beyond incomprehensible. As is the fact that he still collects a paycheck.

Fiddler could be a top line center.

I saw him play a couple games back in January, he was on their top unit with Erat and Kariya.

He has good speed, and tenacity, to go along with a decent scoring touch.

If this guy goes on waivers, CP would be a moron not to pick him up, atleast to replace Fata if nothing else.

I thought I read that they may be trying to move Legwand. Apparently so they can keep this guy on the roster.

Legwand is pretty worthless, but even he'd be an upgrade over what they have now.

He was on the 03/04 Milwaukee team that beat Wilkes-Barre for the Calder Cup. Upgrade over Endicott? No brainer.

He sounds like a good 3rd line center. I think Koltsov would be enough to bring him over.
