Oh yeah, I didn't want to sound like I was referring to you. I was just speaking about the recent media trend of only talking about if Rory would fall apart after another remarkable start, which really hasn't been a problem outside a few isolated incidents. He has a propensity to go very low and at times very high, but I don't think there's a correlation between when they'll happen.

Now just watch him go out and fire a 77 tomorrow...

Wasn't the media's fault that prior to this week, he led the PGA Tour in 1st round scoring average and was nearly dead last in 2nd round scoring average. He took an oversized driver to that at least this week. But the stigma to his Friday follies had been pretty real.

Rory won his first two majors by a combined 16 strokes. Crazy

That hurts. bogeying that hole is like losing two strokes to the field.

Fowler is really having a rough go at it right now. I'd love to see Sergio make this interesting.

I'm not a Sergio fan by any stretch of the imagination, but it would be good to have some sort of competition on the back 9. I really wanted Fowler to come out strong so the final group has a battle on their hands, but it was Sergio rather than Fowler.

Well, Rory certainly deserved it for how he played Thur-Saturday. Well done. I'll be cheering for him in Augusta each year now.

What do you average now?

I can tell I'm getting better (I shot a 95 two weeks ago and a 98 before that) but I'm still so terribly inconsistent in some parts. Short pitching/long chipping, for example. Too often I'll make contact with the ball on the very bottom of the wedge which is pretty much like a punch shot and just fires it over the green.

My average is in the mid/low 80's. Every once in a while I break into the 70's (of course, every once in a while I break into the 90's too...)

The biggest change in my game to get me into the 80's was short game. Better chipping and putting is key. I don't drive the ball that far and am somewhat accurate with my irons, but it's all about fixing the short game first and then worry about the rest in my opinion. Others may disagree.

It's all about the short game and putting. Working on the long game before that is dumb. You drive the ball 14 times a round and you're supposed to putt 36 times. Almost all the scoring is around/on the green. Sure the drive can get you in trouble, just don't pull the driver out off the tee and you can still go low without the distance.

this x 1000. The last three rounds, I didn't touch my driver once and shot the best three rounds I've ever shot (that's because I have such a horrific slice on my drive). I can hit my three iron ~215 off the tee making anything shorter than 400 yards relatively easy to reach. My putting isn't terrible, but my approach is hilariously bad.

You can practice your putting in your basement/living room/whatever with a cup and two clubs, so you can keep your stroke straight.

Poor word choice, but it helped me develop a consistent putting stroke. I now know (vaguely) how hard I need to hit a putt from just about any distance without changing how I approach my putt and how I perform the stroke.

Anyone here play cobra clubs? I hit the amp cell and the bio cell irons the other day... wow. I mean, I'm currently playing with clone (knockoff) clubs that were made 7 or 8 years ago, and were likely a few years behind current technology from back then, but when I tested these two, the ball flew off the face and was straight almost every time. If a deal comes along, I'm pulling the trigger on one of those two, probably the bio cells as they felt much nicer.

just wait a few more months and they will go on sale at the end of the season.

this gentleman used to use a cobra baffler hybrid quite often, but it has been replaced by a really old nike sasquatch hybrid.

I use older Cobra irons (SZ's, I think). I think I bought them in 2010? Used a set of them a few times while renting clubs in Hilton Head and pulled the trigger on a set because I hit them so well.
