There's an adage in motor racing; The best way to make a small fortune in racing is to start with a large one. Same applies to wine making/collecting. (Not that we are collectors)BigMcK wrote:The Art of Wallet Shrinkage.Gaucho wrote:Wine Spectator - The Art of Gazing at Grapes?

I've been to a high end wine auction and it was pretty fascinating to watch. It wasn't clear whether the folks there were subsequent re-sellers or direct collectors. At some point, the auctioneer realized that he had four bottles of a specific wine, instead of three. The buyer didn't flinch and bought the fourth for another 10K.

there is a pretty good read on the website now about a rehab project on SheiKra, a steel coaster, at Busch Gardens. This kinda stuff is pretty close to what my day-to-day is (but in a shop setting).canaan wrote:Coatings Pro Magazine...that ish is free online.

I've settled in on foreign affairs and world affairs
Foreign policy, national interest and the world policy journal have struck me as sometimes or always too politically biased.
I've also chosen newschina as a somewhat guilty pleasure.
Selfish bump, but just checking if any of the more learned, more well educated posters on lgp have further opinions. And am I missing out on not reading the economist or other magazines such as the Atlantic?

Somewhat related to this thread, but JSTOR now has personal plans. No longer do you need an academic account to access their massive stockpile of journals.

I still have a student login, but every so often I raid the databases and save the PDFs to read on my Kindle or phone later. It's pretty great if you want to read in depth about something. Not sure if it'll help much with your search for current foreign policy news, though.

Outdoor life since the early 80's. Writing's not much to talk about, way too many ads and it gets thinner by the year.
Bowhunting World. I'd say it's something like 60% ads. So I got that going for me.
