lets blame epp for getting himself banned and ruining this thread, because he usually had good points to make in it.

plus, things have been going well at a steady pace more or less all year, not a very interesting year for the market.

this gentleman hasnt been adding much to the market (besides the usual 401k contributions) because of the all time highs. these are the types of times when it takes discipline to hold out from contributing and trying to ride a wave.

I moved my non retirement investments to a conservative fund a couple weeks ago

I bought some more bonds (through re-balancing) on Friday.
Who knows, the market could go up another 10% this year, but you get the feeling that something has to give.

Looks like I picked a good day (Monday) to go all cash :)

Actually sold everything except my twtr stock, wanted to roll the dice on their earnings and sold first thing yesterday morning. I'm never getting back in the market after this stretch of luck.

I think people are just locking in gains. they'll probably get tired of sitting on the cash and put it back in the market and push prices back up.

Sure, I just did that....the problem is if the market slowly grinds down for months at a time and THEN people decide to sell.

thats exactly with this gentleman is doing. bunch of cash chilling sitting around, ready to pounce on panic. CANT WAIT.

if kenny the kangaroo was a more enterprising man, it would be a good time to look at buying put options on long term treasury etfs but this gentleman lacks the brain capacity to make those decisions successfully.

I was thinking hedge funds and investments banks pulling money out of equities.

I know what your saying. Just curious as an individual investor are you reallocating funds or simply sitting on cash?

i'm not doing anything with my retirement investements. but i moved my liquid investments into a conservative fund a few weeks ago

KtK seems to be more of an ETF investor, which means he would have the ability to be in cash now.

Correct, the funds in this gentleman's Roth and retirement plan stay put and more or less are on autopilo.

The brokerage account that the cash is a general investment fund. its not all indexes like the roth and retirement plan, and the money there is used a bit less responsibly.

somewhere in the 39 pages in this thread there has to be some talk about target date funds, but this gentleman is pretty lazy and wont wade through. Kenny the kangaroo is going to have access to target date funds soon and was seeking opinions. they will be offered through vanguard so that's nice. actually, all funds will be through vanguard, and that is also nice.
