Didn't they give him a no-trade? Or was it just that Lemieux had said he would only be traded if that's what he wanted?

Yep - Recchi screws up and Gonchar gets booed the rest of the game for it. What a joke. The guy beside me had a nice reaction for the guy who chose the big box and won the autographed Recchi jersey... I yelled "throw it back".

oh wow hes practically a saint then. He makes more rookie mistakes at 38 then all of the teams rookies combined. He still has some good skill but he isnt the guy you want setting examples on the ice. His only acts of character come after he totally screws up and thats alot to make up for!

to be honest i think you all are absolutely ridiculous...sure Recchi is -31 or whatever it is...i mean look at all the Pens performances tonight...it wasn't pretty...the pens weren't going to win regardless, they were down and recchi was jumping into the play on the PP to try and get a scoring opportunity...i think the man at 38 is doing well...he has 18 goals and 27assists...45 points and over the past 10 games he has been -8...i mean it isn't anything to brag about but on this team he should be thankful for that...if you all had seen the game you would see that he was being gritty tonight and stickin his nose in and punching Chara in the face and he was trying to get the troops going...you all are just looking for a scapegoat...and i don't think its fair to put the blame on Recch's...so forgive me guys for being honest and telling it how it is...and by NO means should you be saying anything for Gonchar...he has been so much, SOOO MUCH less than anybody could have expected...don't get me wrong, i wouldn't boo him if he had the puck but he has been less than stellar...sorry bro's for this post but don't put this on Mark's back, he has been an asset to this sub-par team.

Recchi is just..
#1 being used wrong/way too much.
Pk all the time. And we take so many penalties which means he is out there all the time on the worst PK unit of the entire NHL. He is 38 and really could do without so much PK time, on top of the other ice time he has to be out there for given the rest of the team sucks so bad.
Recchi 's plus minus is irrelevant given his situations on the ice. ALL THE TIME.
#2 There are only 5 skaters(MAF removed) on this team that I would keep. SId, Recchi, Malone, Armstrong.

Orpick is a tweener, one moment he is physical, the next he is a ghost out there...
Whitney is so afraid of making a mistake that he is another that is lost.

I would rather see both of them take chances and learn from mistakes..rather than holding their breathe out there till the shift is over. In a lost season, they need to be opening eyes with great plays so they can build on that. Pinch, go coast to coast, step up and crunch the puck carrier in open ice. Sure the mistake will come at times from doing that, but this is the time to do that.
They both have potential but they should be playing to devolo their game this lost season rather than hoping not to get their B.S. wrath of the head coach.

I like Recchi on the team. I think he isn't the greatest at positioning and his defensive skills aren't the greatest,but he's the second leading scorer on the team and he seems to really work his butt off out there. I'd rather get rid of LeClair. I never liked that signing much anyway. I knew he was over the hill when we got him.

As far as Recchi goes he is setting examples of how not to play the system every shift. He doesnt care about the team, he doesntt care about not turning the puck over when there is a chance for him to pad some career statistics. Good for him, personnally I hope he becomes a Hall of Famer because few players have accomplished so much with so little talent. He just isnt a leader and if the team is suppose to grow as a team then they need guys who can bring them together and try and get behind the coach even if they dont like him.

I take back everything good I ever said about Orpik. Whitney is another wasted pick too. This team cant move soon enough. Orpik is a ****** or something, he just has that gimpy eye look and its a different player shift by shift. He could have been the next Scott Stevens but instead he is just alittle *****. Every big hit that Stevens had was a cheap elbow or leaving his feet. Id rather have a solid D-man than a cheap shot

I love the fact that your telling a guy whos in the NHL that he plays with the wrong size stick. I mean c'mon are you Mr. Hockey that you need to tell someone what size stick they should use other than personal preference. Did you ever think Whit is too worried about his own end and covering for the other weak D man that he screws up.

The only d-men that should be on this team are Whit, Brooks, and maybe Melichar.

REALLY Twisted Wrister? Funny, that in the 24 years or so of Stevens career, he only had FOUR Elbowing penalties!! FOUR!!!! 24 years of being one of the most physical players in the game, one of the greatest hitters in the game, and he only had FOUR elbowing penalties.

If you're going to make statements like that, at least know what the hell you're talking about!! You make yourself look like a complete bonehead...keep it up.

Amen! Couldn't have said it better myself, especially the part about looking for a scapegoat. If he's on the ice when a goal is scored against it is automatically his fault according to the geniuses on this board. Nobody else ever is at fault.

LeClair and Gonchar screwed up on the first shorthanded against, but it's Recchi's fault? That says it all about the agenda of the fans on this board.
