I've long held the belief that the insane population growth of the planet would eventually be stemmed by a horrible virus.

I hope this isn't the one.

I don't understand how they can say no one on the plane is in danger. When did he contract it? How many days is it from contact to infection to symptoms? They won't answer if he's a US citizen just he's here visiting relatives. Why won't they say where he's from?

He flew in from Liberia.

He exhibited no symptoms until 4 days after arrival. Apparently when symptoms show the virus is at its' contagious stage.

Contact with bodily fluid is how it's spread. Slim chance of that on the plane. His relatives are at greater risk.

So when did he contract it? Its perfectly plausible to have exchange of body fluids on a plane. Is small, you wipe your nose, wipe your hand on a surface that someone touches and then wipes their nose. Fluids spread.

Isn't it possible someone contagious was on the plane and this guy caught it from him along with some other people?

The CDC is saying he caught it in Liberia.

It spread rapidly in Africa because of poor sanitary conditions, poor access to clean drinking water, and mistrust of the medical staffs. I don't know if a miniscule drop of snot is enough to infect a person.

Frankly, I'm not going to worry about something I may or may not get.

liberia's capital city of monrovia is being decimated by ebola because the years of civil war destroyed the infrastructure and there are open sewers everywhere.

My main concern is that the more time Ebola spends here, in a nation with first world sanitation, the faster it will adapt to spread more efficiently. I'm not sure how fast that can happen though.
