James Neal has 7 goals in ten games so far this year, but he has no assists. I guess he's not so much of a "helper."

As was said during the original debate, yes, he scores goals, but he doesn't create very many scoring chances.
Small sample size, but that ratio is indicative of the issue.

I'm surprised he already has 7.

His lack of assists is also indicative of the talent around him.

But its not like we traded Neal for a ham sandwich. Hornqvist has been better than advertised..

6 goals for Hornqvist, 7 goals for Neal (3 in one game). 14 points for Hornqvist, 7 points for Neal. Plus we have Spaling who's played decently well. It's very early, but I'd say so far the trade seems fair.

Neal could have zero points in 82 games and it wouldn't be a factor in whether or not it was a good trade. It's all about what hornqvist does.
So far so good.

I'm curious as to why you deemed "Avs beat Bruins" as Pens Related but not this?

I do like how this trade is working out for us in another way.... Geno is finally starting to shoot the puck a lot more when he kinda jumped into playmaker mode playing with James Neal. Geno also has jumped into "Beast Mode" a lot more now he doesn't have a Neal to dish the puck to.

Just wait till he has someone on his line who can actually pass him the puck.

I got ridden so much for the misplacement of the "Avs/Bruins" thread, I guess you could say "lesson learned".

Holy **** he's gonna score like 60 goals. Remember that one time he scored 40?

I'm not even sure that points are as important as how many man-games he loses as a Pred vs. a Pen. It just wasn't working here. If he's clean after a new start, and we don't have guys suspended from the top 2 lines, everyone wins.

As of today, he's on a 41 goal pace.

Filip Forsberg is the real player on that team.

Forsberg definitely is turning into a player. Don't know why the Caps gave up on him.

The most important stat on James Neal is when Nashville played Pittsburgh earlier this year, Neal had ZERO goals. : - )

This is the kind of thread /topic that we make fun of other fanbases for obsessing over. Why are we taking delight in Neal's earlier struggles again?
