Thanks. Not the first time this has happened, although might be the last (running out of single friends that I grew up with, or at least ones that I am interested in dating.)

We went out for drinks on Christmas, did a bunch of catching up from the last year, and the discussion turned to the gongshow that is dating at our age and that she'd consider a long distance thing if it was ever presented. To me, that sounds like "hey, we should go out." There was more to the discussion, but that and the look after saying it was I thought my cue. Yeah, apparently that wasn't the case.

I'll drink it away tomorrow, taking my usual spot tomorrow as the third wheel. Image

Middle of the night, woke up with the dog (who normally sleeps on the floor) laying on my legs and my wife with most of her body on her side of the bed and her head on my pillow. I put the dog back on the floor, and tried to nudge my wife back to her side, she woke up and said "what?" I said "do you have some room on your side? I'm feeling a little cramped." "I am on my side!" she then rolled over actually on to her side and fell back asleep. I asked her if she remembered this event in the morning... she did, and still claims that she was completely in the right. Oh well.

Man... I was digging through old things trying to find some paperwork and i found old relics from the relationship with the girl i dated for 6 years. I didn't even know i still had them and it was a huge mistake to read them. Feel like I've been slapped in the face with what i lost all those years ago.

Part of me feels blessed to have felt love once but another part of me feels pure emptiness. I can't believe seeing that stuff brought those feelings back. In the trash can it goes...

You guys ever run into an old g/f or a girl you had a crush on in high school/college, look at her and go "bleh, I'm sure glad I didn't marry THAT"?

I went to HS with a woman that ended up becoming a Ravens Cheerleader but she went downhill while she held the job. Way too much tanning, especially for an Italian chick. It just wasn't right.
Spoiler:

She was cuter in English class, now too much...everything. meh. Really sweet girl though, not stuck up at all.

A girl I went on 3 dates with has appeared on Kroll Show multiple times. It's a little surreal.

I had a GF in high school with a really intense 2-3 year relationship. Saw her again after I went in the Army and she was married.
She ended up doing a couple jail stints and later was a druggie. Her son is doing a long stretch for murder and she has a grandson in prison for shooting a guy. Her dad was an alcoholic ex-con so I should have known the apple falling close to the tree thing.
So yeah, I'm glad we parted ways. As far as looking at her ,she was still a total knockout in her late 40's.

Do you ever wonder if your influence would've saved her from such a dramatic life? I had a gf like that. She wanted to see more people before settling down, etc. Ended up getting sexually assaulted by an ex-con, had an abortion, and didn't really get herself together in the ensuing 15 years. I always felt if she had stayed with me she would've had a better life.

painful recollections will intrude, which cannot and which ought not be repelled
