I'm very nervous for this game. I'd be content if the Steelers won just tonight--everything else would be gravy, imo.

Not sure if I can post this in here, but my neighbor is selling 2 pairs of tix (2 in section 523 and 2 in section 524) for face value ($102 each ticket). I actually despise the Steelers, but he is a good guy so I am trying to help him out. Apparently his computer glitched during checkout and he came away with more tix than he needed. PM me if interested.
Edited to add: I am about to go for a run so I will get back to anyone interested in a little over an hour.

So any chance that a team like Buffalo or Chicago will only look at the offensive stats this year and lure Haley away to be their head coach?

I like Haley as Offensive Coordinator.
I hope they can squeeze one more year of Munchak to coach the line.

Not all that surprised. It'll be interesting to see where he ends up, if anywhere.

So will we see a 4-3 or continue the 3-4. In either case we don't have the right players for either right now.

Hoping this was all Dick's doing.
Otherwise, I have to contemplate that we may live in a day and age where an 11-5 team finds it necessary to relase their Long time DC.

I thought Lebeau should have retired two years ago.

Our defense has been awful the last 3 or 4 years. You don't have to ignore his history with the team to see a change was needed. Part of it has been personnel issues, but it's his defense, and it's been terrible

Thanks Lebeau. You helped us get 2 Super bowls with your great defenses.

Re: Official 2014-2015 Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
Regardless of personnel, his defense became too predictable and too easy to beat. Great coach who was dearly loved by his players, but it was time for a change. My concern is that they will just replace him with linebackers coach and longtime Lebeau replacement in waiting, Keith Butler. He's been with the Steelers since 2003. That's hardly getting a fresh look on defense.

I can't see why a 78 year old would resign, with the hope of catching on elsewhere.pronovost19 wrote:Hoping this was all Dick's doing.

Re: Official 2014-2015 Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
The defense was first in yards/game allowed and 6th in points allowed/game in 2012. In 2011 they were first in both of those categories. Last year they were 14th and 13th. This was the first year in forever the defense was actually bad.Froggy wrote:Our defense has been awful the last 3 or 4 years. While there can be no question that this was the right move, it's still a bit sad.

Re: Official 2014-2015 Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
In recent years, our yards per game stats have been inflated by a combination of the offense being really good at time of possession, and really bad about leaving defenses with short fields. I really don't feel like looking it up, but I'd imagine if you look at the more important stats like points against, red zone %, opponents 3rd down%, and turnovers, it's no longer a top defense on paper in those years

Re: Official 2014-2015 Pittsburgh Steelers Thread
Purely being selfish, I don't want to see LeBeau with any other team.
I wish he could stay with the org somehow in player development or drafting--my answer concerning every coach and player to whom I get irrationally, emotionally attached, I guess.
I know it's a business. That said, I think the call could've really been mutual between the Steelers and LeBeau to give Butler his shot. Is that unconventional? Maybe. Now, is that smart? I don't know. Would it surprise me, given all reports of LeBeau's character? Not really. And as bizarre as I think pro sports is, and how peculiar teams can be, I can't picture the Steelers forcing him out. I just can't, unless LeBeau's thinking he has no choice because the FO isn't giving him anything with which to work. But I can't imagine the Steelers telling Dick to go, business or not.
