You know what we really need? A single website where you can search for movies and see what services it's available from - Netflix, Prime, Vudu, etc. That would rock. I'm going to patent it.

Re: Seeking opinions on streaming services.
That's not what he wants at all. The Netflix search function is abysmal and brushing it off as "this is just Netflix" is dumb. They aren't a startup just getting off the ground. It's a dumpster fire looking for specific content.PensFanInDC wrote:I hear ya but this is Netflix. I am willing to bet most users want to binge watch Orange is the New Black over a documentary on geo-politics. A search function that gets as specific as "documentaries about NASA made before 1997 and directed by a woman born in a month ending in Y and on an even day" is a bit much I think.

Did the Netflix clamp on account sharing just start going into effect? I've never not been able to log on, but now in my account settings I have plan options to "expand to 4 screens in HD" for 3.99 more a month. Not gonna happen.
Sorry folks that shared. The pw got changed.

Yeah, I exaggerated but come on. He certainly does want super specific search options. Searching for non-fiction titles related to Egypt isn't specific? Yeah, I'd like better search options too but I dont expect anything more specific than genre.pittsoccer33 wrote:They're big on the recommendations, not searching. I want to search by fiction/nonfiction and then by subject (dinosaurs, pirates, ancient egypt, NASA, etc)

Why is that so much to ask for? You can search Pandora for aboriginal folk covers by middle aged welsh farmers who only construct their own instruments on ash Wednesday, but doing a shallower version of that is a pipedream?

Guys, I already came up with the perfect solution. One of your techy, IT types just needs to build the site and I'll split the profits with you.

So....
Like http://www.canistream.it/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ? I question the sites accuracy as I just tried "the 100" which I know is on Netflix, but only lists pay streaming options.

I posted the same idea a few months ago, and even mentioned that same site.

In a word, yes, they clamped down on the number of concurrent streams going on at one time. I believe the default $8 plan allows for two simultaneous streams.canaan wrote:Did the Netflix clamp on account sharing just start going into effect? To be fair to Netflix, it's 8 bucks. Buy your own account.

Re: Seeking opinions on streaming services.
Sling TV went live today and also announced AMC will be part fo their $20 service:
http://www.theverge.com/2015/2/9/800418 ... e-adds-amc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
BBC and IFC channels also included with the AMC deal but won't be live any time soon. If TWC ups my rates I'm cancelling, going to competitor internet and using this. Hopefully they will change to allow unlimited connections behind same IP address or let me add simultaneous streams like Netflix does and their on Demand offerings only works for a few channels at launch but things looking better.

Is anyone aware of a way to watch live AMC shows on a Roku? I have a comcast login and can watch on my PC, just not on the Roku.

Hmm, this sounds intriguing. I think IFC, AMC and BBC are my favorite cable channels, and the wife would only be ticked we don't get HGTV (of which I'd be happy to do away with Property Brothers reruns). Now all I'd need are Center Ice and MLBtV and I'm set!DelPen wrote:Sling TV went live today and also announced AMC will be part fo their $20 service:

Crap- just looked and HGTV is included. Oh well, I'll have to tell the wife that since she gets HGTV, I get Center Ice and MLBtV!

Spend $35 and get a chromecast which should let you stream the live TV chanels from the Xfinity website, I've tried this and it works well, or pay $20 a month and subscribe to sling TV which I ahve not tried yet.mac5155 wrote:Is anyone aware of a way to watch live AMC shows on a Roku? I knew I should've bought the Chromecast over the Roku stick.DelPen wrote:Spend $35 and get a chromecast which should let you stream the live TV chanels from the Xfinity website, I've tried this and it works well, or pay $20 a month and subscribe to sling TV which I ahve not tried yet.mac5155 wrote:Is anyone aware of a way to watch live AMC shows on a Roku? However, I think I can stream via the xFinity App on my droid to the Roku. By the time Better Call Saul was on last night, we just went old fashioned with the HDMI wire out of my laptop. Will set up the screen mirroring on my phone for next week's episode and hopefully have a better picture.

Re: Seeking opinions on streaming services.
Set up the miracast from my S5 to Roku so I could watch the game. It's linked via wifi direct, but still kind of choppy and has a split second audio delay. Anyone know if this is correctable?

Re: Seeking opinions on streaming services.
This Playstation Vue service will bomb. You need to have a PS3 or 4 to start and it's going to be more than I pay for the cable part of my bill. I guess if it's going to inlcude HBO and Showtime it migth have some value and it does have the Fox and Discovery owned channels, but no AMC (yet), but I get 99% of what I watch through Sling TV, everything but FXX but all platforms have a dedicated chanel to get Simpsons World and I have a Comcast logon.

Re: Seeking opinions on streaming services.
Has anyone been experiencing a ton of buffering on Netflix lately? I was watching on my PS3 and it would pause 4 or 5 times during a movie to buffer, usually staying at 25% for 20 seconds or so before starting up again. I bought an Amazon Fire Stick thinking that might improve things. I'm trying it for the first time now and it's already stopped playing 5 times and I'm less than 45 min into the movie. It's making Netflix pretty much unusable. /firstworldproblems

Funny.
Definitely not an internet problem though. I'm getting 80-90 mbps down.
