Why do they call Mark Madden "Squish"?

Ok....Mark Madden (from the X) REALLY HATES when people call up his radio show and call him "squish"?

I'm unsure of the origin, but I was wondering if anyone knew? Totally guessing here: But, I'm assuming that is the sound he makes (or made) when he walked or something?

Any help to this "inside" joke would be appreciated.
