Sadly sepsis can result from C-diff infections from what I've read so I'm definitely staying on top of stuff from here on out.mac5155 wrote:As I posted in another thread, a coworker thought he had the flu for about 2 weeks and suddenly passed away Friday after finally going to the ER 12 days later. He was in the ER/hospital for 4 days. Turned out it was sepsis. So going to the doctor is not a wimp move IMO.

Re: LGP Sickness Thread
Zicam says it's homeopathic. I was curious and did some research on homeopathy a while back, and the whole concept of homeopathy is laughable pseudoscience. Seriously; look it up. Its central tenet is that diluting something makes it more powerful, and it dates back to an era where people still thought disease was caused by "miasmas." Homeopathy is about as scientific as voodoo, astrology, or using magic crystals to adjust your chakras. The fact that stores put homeopathic stuff on the same shelves as real medications is a great example of caveat emptor.Kraftster wrote:Runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing. Zicam: yay or nay?

I've tried Zicam 4 or 5 times and it absolutely does not work on me. I honestly think somebody made it just to laugh at how many people are making their mouths taste like a penny for 30 minutes/dose

Also, honestly, **** people that won't stay home when they're sick. Especially when you work for the government and have hours and hours of sick time given to you. Dude in the cube next to me was "cleared by his doctor" to come back to work earlier this week but sat there and coughed/sneezed/wretched all week. Now I wake up today really tired and with a slightly sore throat. I am not impressed.

Re: LGP Sickness Thread
I was fighting a cold all week, still am today. Tried to fight the good fight, but finally had to take a sick day at work yesterday. Thankfully I was working longer shifts so I was off today and the weekend anyways, but still. Miserable. Finally starting to break up though I think, but I think I infected my wife.

don't do this often, but sometimes when I feel like I'm on the edge of getting a full blown cold, I'll just go over the top with some whisky/bourbon and get really hammered. For whatever reason, when the hangover goes away, the cold never get's bad. Obviously this is wrong, but I like to pretend that the cold says, whoa guys, there is something much more intense going on here, let's scram. Cold adverted. This is my 2nd year testing this and my numbers are pretty good.

The last time I tried that (accidentally, I may add), I spent the entire next day in bed/sleeping and still felt like crap the day after that.

You guys should listen to Sawbones. A running theme with them is that throughout history the 'cure' for most flu/cold/meh sickness was just drink until you don't feel symptoms anymore.

There are a few places I could post this but I figured here is good. I have developed terrible heartburn after eating cooked tomatoes. Raw is fine on a sammich or sub. Its only cooked tomatoes that do it. I'd there an increase in the acidity of tomatoes when cooked?

This is a cool thread. People get sick, you see.
If anyone has questions about an overactive thyroid or B12 deficiency, I'm quiet an expert.

We can combine the two, sure. I got answers. I'm cured from the thyroid junk and almost from B12, though I am still having some issues... like my fingers are kinda hurting from typing today. What's crazy is that my fingers/hands tense up when I overuse them on hard objects, but the sensation gets immediately reversed to about 90% good if I just squeeze soft things for a minute. LOL, I know what you're thinking, but I mean a pillow or a comforter or some laundry. Oh, HONEYYYYYYY.....PensFanInDC wrote:What about an overactive B12 deficiency?

Symptoms still coming (at a much lesser rate) and going but doctor didn't seem overly concerned. Said a healthy dose of probiotics for the next couple months from here on out should finish the job.

No, for me it was likely the fact I was on PPI's (Nexium, etc) for a year and a half, though my doctor is still trying to verify the exact cause. She wants me to do an endoscopy now. This is my thread... you can read all the messed up things that were happening to me. It's why I was off LGP for so long.Grunthy wrote:Sarcastic, are you a vegetarian or vegan? And you're right, people who don't eat meat have to take B12 or it will inevitably get them.

went to bed feeling a little stuffy, woke up this morning full blown miserable. Nose is stuffy and running at the same time, coughing non-stop, headache... fantastic stuff. Had planned to go to a career fair this afternoon, but it's looking more and more like that's not an option.

You have my sympathy with step throat. I had it a few years ago and felt like I was going to die.
