Agreed. They don't care. I, however, do care—and I refuse to shop anywhere that has a no-guns policy.

The overall decline of Monroeville in the past 10-15 years is just amazing.

In curious what you mean by that. Monroeville and the three surrounding zip codes have had over a 5% population growth since 2000

Unless your being facetious, then he is talking about societal decline...

It's hard to argue that Monroeville Mall hasn't seen a societal shift. I'm actually happy they put the no teenagers policy in place. Someone had a post on Reddit that stated the security guards were also janitors or doing janitor duties. Really I'm shocked nobody(media) hasn't called that into question especially with the trouble that's been going on there.

Nevermind these people aren't even allowed to carry around mace.

Our Applebee's does that. You need a parent if you're under 21 after 10 o'clock. I don't see how that could be illegal

I think that's honestly a justifiable reason too. There's no need to be at a restaurant that serves alcohol if you're a teenager past a certain time. I know that's really hard to enforce, but looking back now, we used to go to Wild Wings every Friday and sit for hours just BSing costing the wait staff money in tables that would order small meals and water.

It makes sense on all levels.

Yeah, I remember hating one bar because on wing night you had to sit on the restaurant side if you were under 21. But looking back it's because we would sit there for 2 hours and only order water and a dozen discounted wings.

Is Elmers Aquarium Store still going strong? That's the only thing I ever went to Monroeville for.

Great store. I lost my aquarium a few years ago due to an extended power outage from a big snowstorm, and I decided not to set it back up, but I pretty much bought everything from Elmer's. I don't live anywhere near Monroeville, but I drove far out of my way just to shop there.

Elmer's rocks.

Monroeville isn't thaaaat bad. It's definitely declined though.... but it's nothing like I've seen people make it out to be. I stick to Westmoreland for my needs. :fist:

So the new policy is definitely security theater and they even admit that.

Kids will still be allowed in the stores with external entrances (like Macys). Which they could then enter the mall from.
When it was pointed out to Ms. Keating that the policy, had it been in effect Saturday, might not have stopped the shooter from targeting Davon Jones and wounding shoppers Thomas and Mary Singleton, she said, “I think nothing could have stopped this from happening.”

It's true, if someone really wanted to do that they're not stopping them. Precautions can only go so far.

Sounds like he didn't have the best or most stable childhood growing up. That being said no reason to try and murder someone, but that's probably all he knows how to do sadly.

I would be all for laws that punish the parents of underage criminals for crimes that their children commit.

While in a case like this, the parents are probably deadbeats (I'm assuming the father is long gone), that's a horrible concept. In certain situations, no matter how good of a parent you are, you can't control if your child has legitimate mental disorders that affect their behavior and decisions. That would be way too subjective of a law.

I'm not saying that you give them the same sentence as an offender. But give them more of a public shaming or something.

My issue with that, politically and practically, is that it's pretty hard to sent parents to jail or punish them when they have kids. If you raised one *****bag kid that shot up a mall I'm willing to be in the far vast majority of cases there are a bunch more at the house ready to take his place. You'd have to put the parents in jail and then sent them all into CYS which is already overflowing and flawed.
