I'm confused, is Luccianos in Whiteoak the same as the other Luccianos that are discussed in here? I think the white oak pizza is pretty good.

I maintain that Little Caesar's makes the best next-day breakfast pizza in the history of humankind. In college, we'd order an entire extra pie to make sure we had enough for breakfast pizza sandwiches (two slices, over-under) in the morning.

They improved. I thought they had great pizza - not a pizzeria pizza but good nonetheless - a few years ago, then they started messing with the recipe, each time getting worse to the point I stopped buying. Well, I haven't had it in a long time but tried it again a couple weeks back and now had 4 orders and all were fantastic. I think they changed the recipe again, but this time it worked. I get the normal pies with pepperoni/mushrooms (I don't like sausage anymore... tasteless goat droppings) and my g/f usually takes green pepper/mushroom, which is great because we then share 50/50. It works because mine is pretty spicy and hers is mild. What I love to do is alternate bites.

I don't know what the worst non-chain pizza is, but the BEST for me at the moment is in Jersey City right across from the Court House. It's amazing. The crust is soft but crunchy, sauce a little sweat but not too sweet, and cheese that's soft and gentle. Perfect amount of everything. Took me like 6 months to find a new Pizza place (my old one sucks now) and this is it, though it's a bit of a drive.

For much of my childhood the only pizza place in town was Pizza Hut. Later on we had Pizza Joes and Dominoes as well, but for years it was Pizza Hut or nothing. So I've eaten quite a few Pizza Hut pizzas in my life. The crust is oily, but I always liked the pizza.

Wow, a trip to Wikipedia says Pizza Hut is still doing that program where kids can get coupons for free personal pan pizzas for reading books in school. I remember doing that in elementary school back in 1984 when the program was new.

Back in the 70's and early 80's, there was a Trapuzzano's (spelling?) in Waynesburg.
We hit that place most weekends. Thin and greasy but man, did we tear that stuff up!

True story about Book It...

A professor of mine in college worked for the marketing firm that developed the Book It program. Pizza Hut cared less about children reading books. Pizza Hut wanted kids to grow up eating their pizza so that they would always associate with Pizza Hut first when thinking of pizza. Dominoes had a rapid expansion in the 70's and gained a nice chunk of the market share during this time period, so this was Pizza Hut's response. Kids would eat there once a month and if they kids were eating there, so would the parents. It was Pizza Huts way of trying to build market share and their customer base by getting kids to eat their pizza on a recurring basis and at a young age.

Looking back on it, I LOVED going to Pizza Hut as a kid to cash in my book-it rewards. Certainly not my favorite pizza now, but growing up, its all I wanted. The Book-It program is actually pretty genius in my opinion.
