What Did You Want to Be When You Grew Up?

Based on the JTOR discussion that begged for its own thread...

When you were six, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I can't recall six exactly but I know at different times, I wanted to be "the boss of Kennywood" and an oceanographer or marine biologist (something near water).

As I got older (11ish) lawyer and actor were in the plans...those are two things that are pretty similar when you look at them.

Now I'm a marketing guy.

Missed it by "that" much.

How about you?

When I was 5-6 I wanted to be an actress. Around 11 I wanted to be a doctor. In high school I wanted to be the next great sports reporter.

I'm a project manager in IT.

1-6: Cowboy
7-11: Hockey player for the Pens (not kidding, I have a 5th grade autobiography where I say this explicitly)
12-15: Software engineer
15-19: Astrophysicist
19-20: Biophysicist
21-23: Software engineer

I kind of want to be a cowboy now...

I said storm chaser, but after LITT said "archaeologist", it reminded me that I was also into dinosaurs at the time and would've liked to be a paleontologist as well.

Also the typical baseball/hockey player thing.

At 14 or so (during the TV run of "Baretta", a pimp!

'Jaws' was on TV when I was maybe 3 years old. By the time I started kindergarten I could ID about a dozen shark species by their teeth and knew their scientific/Latin names. (Charcharodon carcharias, Galeocerdo cuvier, Prionace glauca, Lamna nasus, Isurus oxyrinchus, Carcharhinus leucas.... blah blah blah) I was forbidden from saying the word 'shark' or 'whale' for a month. About once a every other month, I'd borrow the book "Shark Frenzy" from the library. Ron and Valerie Taylor were my first childhood heroes outside my family. I wanted nothing more than to grow up being around sharks. To this day, the only thing on my bucket list is to free swim with a great white.

Which is why I'm a 41-year old paralegal.

Always wanted to be a Paleontologist growing up. Was a huge Jurassic park fan. Thought that would have been a cool job. It was either that or a Ghostbuster.

Didn't get to live either dream....

20-25: Foreign Service Officer/Diplomat

Astronaut
NHL'er
Actor

For now I'm filing paper. In 5 years I hope to be farming hops and raising goats and chickens. <spittoon>
