Favorite Dive Bar

The Frolic Room, next door to the Pantages Theater, Hollywood and Sunset.

Jumbo's Clown Room is just sad.

My team had a post-game meeting at a place in El Segundo called "Ye Olde Shack". It was apparently 'bring your hooker to the bar' night, and we all embarrassingly unprepared. We only went twice, because half of the team refused to go back a third time after seeing a guy shoot up at the bar on the second visit. (Again, a lack of preparation doomed us.)

Either Rudnicks, or Blondies Roadhouse in Uniontown. Blondies is more of a dive restaurant, though.

My Dad lives in Beallsville, in case you're wondering what the hell takes me down there.

Jake's Bar, West Chester PA
50¢ drafts at all hours. Good times.
Rex's, also in West Chester. It was featured in the Clutch video for "the mob goes wild"
I frequented these establishments from 1992-1997.

Anyone ever actually go to Kow Boys in Whitney? Spent a lot of time growing up there and never once had a desire to try to get in. Place is just skeevy.

Roadrunner's on 51 in Brentwood and the old Lambros lounge that used to be on 28 before it was widened looked like the classic pittsburgh dives.

This literally almost redeems SDD's UPS fandom. I was there two few months ago to eat some wings with a friend completely at random. This was going to be on my list.

Does Hideaway in Shadyside count as a "dive bar"?

I never played soccer there but used to play hockey on the pond behind it when it froze over. I also used to go fishing there.

Whats the deal with this place? I see the signs out front. Is it the garage behind that building? The signs and drink specials look ok. I just don't know where it is (or what will happen to me when I get there).

I think Hemmingways has to be my favorite at this point. In college their food was too expensive to eat there often. I went in on a friday night over the summer, $3 Sierra Nevadas, and half price food after 9(?). We had a buffet of junk food, beer, and shot pitchers for $30.

When I lived in the NYC area I used to go to a place called the Dark Room on the LES. It reminded me of a Meyran Avenue basement, so I was pretty happy there.

A lot of Shadyside is actually pretty dumpy. There are lots of run down houses and places with terrible looking yards, given that there is a large renter population there.

Cappy's qualifies from an ambience standpoint but the clientele is not traditional dive bar.

Then theres Mardi Gras on Copeland Street. Its the only bar I can think of thats fully carpeted and looks like a 1980s hotel hangout.

Across the street is Stak'd. I wouldn't call it a dive, but its great cheap eats. Thats where Alto Lounge used to be.

William Penn Tavern is pretty low key too.

I wouldn't necessarily call Mardi Gras a dive, but we did call it "Old Heavy Hands" because they (at least used to) pour heavy drinks.
